On tonight's showing give tommy miller a contract?? Personally I would say no?

Although he did nought much wrong I cannot see the merit in him over Walton we let go and he's about 8 years older.

More creativity please !! Let brad walker run the middle !!

So you'd not give Miller a contract based on tonight's showing but you'd let an 18 year old who was basically F***** after 60 minutes run the midfield....explain that one please......

No nothing to do with it at all..... if someone is going to judge a player (Miller) on one game and say no contract, then you can't say someone who basically had a poor (same) game should run the midfield.I don't have a problem if the OP doesn't think Miller deserves a contract, but what's he basing letting Walker run the midfield on...past performances I would guess. Isn't that a little wrong basing one players ability on past performances and Millers on just one that he had last night. Based on past performances and level Miller played at then he's worth a contract, most would agree I think. Whether he gets one is up to CC.

Walker didn't look too good, but he was about against Seb Larson whose a Swedish international who was schooled at Arsenal and that Ba guy who seemed to have the stamina and engine of Mo Farrah.

No drama, nothing to see here.

Please depart the outrage bus.

Miller had nice touches, but against them 2 looked slow, as to be expected really.

last nights midfield reminded me of a few year ago when we had Murray and Humphreys in a similar set up. Not enough energy or movement.

If it was Miller, Walker plus a nippy, intricate playmaker then it would be a much better balance.

miller walker n that kid from boro, the ginger one we had on loan, that would be better.

Would remind me of the miller, stevo tinkler axis we had in 2001, great midfield n a lovely balance to it.

Compton in the middle and play 3-5-2? Duckworth and Holden as wing backs... Compton's shown he can run with the ball, means we can get Franks, Walker and Compton in an advanced role and leave Miller sitting

Flinders
Austin Bates Parnaby
Duckworth Walker Miller Compton Holden
Franks James

If only we had Paul Smith!

Really, where?

Got centre halves at centre half, full backs as wing backs, midfielders in midfield and strikers up front.

holden is barely a left back I don't think he could handle the responsibility of left wing back anymore than he can handle tying his laces.

Compton is not a cm, he cant tackle and hasn't the stamina for 90 minutes in the mix. He's a winger, chalk on his boots run at full back style, if he's there he looks great.

Parnaby can play there, Austin will play there. Left back will be Holden's this season.

We need to have some way of being able to accommodate Walker, there's no point in having someone good on the ball like him if we can't get him on the ball.

The way he played yesterday he looked like he was trying too hard to impress, looking to take a player on when passes were available.

Yes they can play there but it aint their 1st or even 2nd position which is what townend is saying. League 2 players aint good enough to play out of position for a full season. Yes one or two games but not the full season and especially not 3 or 4 at the same time. Its asking for trouble in my book.

But i agree 3-5-2 might well be best formation for what we have. Assuming we bring in a CM and CB.

Tbh I dont think we could get/attract anyone any better than Miller at the moment, he is steady away, only problem is he sits too deep these days, we need some penetration and creativity from midfield. So I would say give him a contract. It does beg the question though why get rid of Walton and replace him with Miller. I can only think Walton wasnt happy so why keep him.

As for Walker I was not one of these people getting all moist about him last season. For me he doesnt get amongst the goals enough to be the sort of midfielder we desperately need, another one who doesnt get forward enough. As for fitness Wednesday was worrying, yes the whole team were chasing the game for 60 mins so you expect them to be tired, but Walker finished last season looking tired as well .Maybe thats why he is here, a flaw somewhere, dont think he is the million pound sensation some were talking about last season, time will tell.

We've let Walton n monkhouse go, experienced players n was probably there time to go, I imagine they where on league 1 wages. I thought we would be using there wage to bring some bodies in the midfield. We haven't had a really good attacking centre mid in forever

We used to have a good run of goal scoring centre midfielders, Cullen, Miller, Beech, Sweeney, probably a few Iv missed tbh.
