Is one of those Pools players who retreated to the depths of my memory, but his wife's uncle was driving a taxi got near Glasgow today, and was talking about his injury-blighted career.

Apparently he holds some sort of record for scoring from distance. If you search for him on youtube its worth a watch.

It's not bad, 84 yards but into an empty net, seen a few keepers break it recently.

He could probably walk past me in the street n I wouldn't know who he was.

Thats the same for loads of ex-Pools players. I was looking at a team pic from a few years ago and one bloke I just couldn't name. Haslam.

That'll be why I didn't recognise him. If he had his back to me, arms oustretched whilst shielding the ball as it trickles over the line I might have done better.
