But he didn't have too, he was going to be contracted till summer 2015, and then he still couldn't go for nowt.

What would you rather have Baldwin for another year n a half or money that's just gone straight into kens sky rocket?

At the end of the day Phil, if we have to sell players to keep the club running, then that's what we have to do, the good days are over. All this Shite about money going into uncle Kens pockets is cringeworthy.

So do Crewe but they don't take the 1st offer. How many million pound deals have they had. Powell went for 4m. If he was at pools we would be 500k. That's the Fukn problem and it won't change whlist these clowns are allowed to run the club

The points is you think and I know that was the only deal on offer. You can say all this but this mythical bids over £500k wasnt there and wouldnt have been there this summer either.

Like it or not Posh is a bigger shop window than pools its a know fact.

Well we can agree to disagree but I bet the same will happen with Luke James.

What is cringeworthy is you posting the same thing over and over again when you clearly have no understanding of the subject matter.

Owners aren't allowed to simply gift clubs cash like IOR used to. It all has to be accounted for. Don't you think, if he could Man City's owner would just do that? You know to avoid massive fines and his squad being restricted in the Champions League. You can't.

That's besides the point though PJ, there is no money to gift any more!

What a load of shite.

Russ did what's best for us???

Did he fuck, we sold him at 10.58 leaving 2 minutes to replace him. We should have waited till now, let the bidders come in and from an auction.

Anyone who thinks we would have got less than 500k is either insane or an absolute moron. The same bloke is now getting bids of 2m rejected. Ffs kens n russes eyes lit up at the zeros and not a 2nd thought was given towards any fan of hartlepool united.

The deal stunk then, kens words afterwards stunk and this 2m offer is the biggest stink of all.

Didn't seem an awful bit of business when Collins came in and was playing some of his best form for us in a long while.

Hartlepool United are a selling club, its pretty normal. There are only a handful of clubs in the world that are not selling clubs.

Perhaps we are a bit of a pushover, but then you risk ending up with nothing.

Baldwin HAD to leave it was inevitable, he would not have achieved his potential at Pools.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned - what happens if we played hardball managed to keep him a bit longer and he had been injured?

Anyone remember what happened with the £1m rated James Brown? How did that deal go down for Pools? Oh wait a minute . . .

Some people have tunnel vision.

Baldwin did have to leave but it could of been in the summer and even a tribunral we couldn't of got much less than 500k?, they way IOR and Hodcroft conduct their business may be admirable but its naive and costing them money.

As soon as anyone bids for your players you should leak it to the press to encourage a bidding war, I would of bought a share in Jack Baldwin for 1/2 a million ala Tevez.

It was obvious to anyone with 2 eyes in their head he was a class above Pools.

As for Peterboro being a shop window its all how you market your club and your business approach.

Crewe and Pboro have a geographical advantage over Pools in that they can take in non league players from the surrounding areas and develop and sell them on. Crewe built a reputation with DOG, P'boro have done it with a gobshite owner and that odious toad Adrian Durham shouting about it on the radio 7 days a week.

Tribunal is based on:

The level of both clubs.

International recognition.

Contract offer to make player stay.

Length of time with club.

Any previous bids for player.

Palace turned down £5m for Jon Bostock from Chelsea. He was an England Youth International and he'd been at the club 8 years. They probably offered him about £3k a week to stay.

Tribunal ordered Spurs to pay £900k. Simon Jordan quit football because of this.

Baldwin was at the club 2/3 years. Had one offer from Peterborough and no international recognition

Just to add;

Palace were championship and we are league 2.

Also we would have offered nowhere near what palace offered Bostock to stay.

We'd have got £200k at best.

As I said not giving him a longer term improved contract 12 months before which would have made him comfortable to stay.

It's £2m because he has 4 years on his deal at Peterborough. We've never had him on a contract that length.

We'd have got about £50,000 from a tribunal. Actually probably not even that.

Crewe have a reputation for producing top young talent that means they can bump up their prices. Just like Peterborough have a reputation for gambling on non-league players and turning them in to professionals, so they can put their prices up.

We don't. We have no reputation for producing players that can go beyond the Championship.

Look at Boydy and Browny, both looked like they could play in the Premiership and then got career ruining injuries. Careers over.

We probably could have got more for Baldwin, but at least we got something. If we didn't take their offer, he would have gone on a free in 12 months.

No he wouldn't, he was under 23 so we could have got a fee for him if he was out of contract.

He didn't even come through our youth set up, we'd have got next to nothing.

It depends which side of the coin you want to look at if it went as far as a tribunal he would of been here another 18 months may of even been playing in a higher league with Pools.

You are only saying it made good business sense to sell him due to previous cock ups by the Pools management so either way Pools don't come out of this looking good at all.

If Pools are happy with the deal at the time (and any sell on's) and the player wants to go there's not much more to discuss.
MacAnthony is obviously just doing his best to make a quick buck.

If Pools sold Luke James for 150k to Huddersfield 6 months before he went to Southampton for one and half million there would be nothing to answer if Pools were happy at the time.

The archaic way the football club is run is a joke, 6 managers in 6 years all working with their hands tied behind there back under the guise of FFP.

On the scale of things we are always going to be little Hartlepool but do you really think that's the case here?
We could end up with a million quid profit from a player we got from non league.

That is only true of teams in European competition, hence Liverpool losing a fortune and not being sanctioned as they are outside of UEFAs jurisdiction, that will change next year
At our level owners absolutely can give money ( not loan) through sponsorship or just capital injection....how do you think your favorite team Fleetwood have managed to do so well with no support you wrote yourself they would go tits up if their owner pulled out, implying their owner IS gifting them money
