Just seen the Spain 30 man squad.

They are going to leave 7 of that lot out. All 7 would get in the England squad.

We are going to have to work hard to win this thing. Its not going to be the stroll we all thought.

I'm sure some hard graft, firm tackling and a direct approach to forward play will see us triumph over Johnny Foreigner. I'd favour a combination of 'Zulu' style determined defending with the occasional heroic outburst of 'Charge of the Light Brigade' attacking. It is a proven fact that the tricky little chaps from everywhere else can't cope with a proper, full-blooded, militaristic English approach to the game.

I get what you mean.

But thats not the way to win this thing.

We need to do it in style.

Leave the cloggers on the bench, and let the proper players show what they can do.

It would be foolish to say:

Ooooohh look at those argies, they are good them, we need to defend and play for a draw.

Cant happen. Have you seen our defenders?

With attacking players like barkley, lallana, sterling, sturridge etc im confident we can give it a good go and can challenge teams.

lets hope Woy thinks the same, and doesnt restrict their playing time in favour of the more steady eddie approach, which has never worked for us.

we don't really have players to play steady eddie, he's picked a pretty adventurous squad and I think the players we have there is only 1 way to go and that is attack.

We don't really have any boring defensive central midfielders like barry or nicky butt or someone like that.

our defence isn't strong enough to sit on a lead like it was when we had cole, terry, rio and Neville.

We have to attack, and I think we will.

Holland to get knocked out in the group stages may be a decent bet

Nope, they'll come home with the cup. Save this thread for posterity and bragging rights.

It's a strange one, Holland, Spain and Chile all in the same group and I think whoever finishes second probably gets Brazil in the next round
Holland are a very good side given an exceptionally difficult draw

Depends which Holland turn up, they seem to be dogged with fractions in the camp n off the field issues, bit like france.

No way should nasri be left at home, still peeved with him from euro 2012

I heard that only applies to about two thirds of them

Their squad is quite literally decimated (in a "he's literally left Ben Haim for dead there" kind of way).

Have to admit I quite liked Deschamps' justification for leaving Nasri out. He spits his dummy if you don't start him and that is bad for the squad. I pick the squad that works best, not just a list of the best players. Will probably cost him his job if they do badly but at least he is trying to mange with a bit of authority.

Whats the story with Argentina leaving out Tevez? Has he upset the manager in someway? He is a temperamental little bugger so I presume it's over his attitude rather than ability.

Strange how they'd pick franco di santo over tevez.

I think it's a little much to say Spain start slowly , they battered Switzerland when they lost, that being said they could well go out as it's a very tough group

To win any tournament you need luck at some point no matter how good you are, that's why winning 4 in a row, and I hope they do, would be an incredible achievement

And di santo?

Ner I'm not having that.

You'd take tevez any day of the week, it must be his personality, probably a shit head to have around for 4 weeks.

Someone tried to spout this bullshit to me the other day. There has only been 4 worlds cups held in South America its hardly some amazing fact that can never be broken. Holland lost in extra time in 78.

Spain had never won 1 before the last World Cup, that sharp changed.

Strange one to leave Tevez out, he's scored about 20 goals this season for Juventus so it's not as if he is out of form.

Never mind that, some quality in the South Korea squad:

Kim Seung-gyu
Lee Bom-young
Kim Jin-soo
Yun Suk-young
Kim Young-kwon
Hwang Seok-ho
Hong Jeong-ho
Kim Chang-soo
Han Kook-young
Lee Chung-yong
Ji Dong-won

It's a bollox statistic. England have a 100% record in World Cups held in England. As indeed do France. The Krauts don't though because they blew in in 2006 although they did win it at home in the wonderfully named Wankorf Stadium (actually in Suisse).

Pools are unbeaten in the champions League, Europa League and Fairs Cup. We also are unbeaten in FA Cup Finals.

Some of the world cup is being held in a fairly temperate climate because of the time of year and the fact that they are in the southern hemisphere. In the southern based games you'll need you're jumpers. not so in the North though because it just don't get cold at any time of year. Basically unless you are playing in the north, you're unlikely to see temperatures over 25 degrees.
