Aye, when he arrived the difference he made was phenomenal - he added steel that we'd badly needed, and allowed Miller and Stepho to concentrate on being an attacking threat. When we then got to see him going forward himself it was an added bonus - no-one knew he could stick them away as well!

the sign of a good player is when he makes his team mates look good
Mark Tinkler had that quality

We all talk about Tinkler and the steel he added to the midfield but he had something special. Before age caught up with him, he had a little spark and as MadJohn said he would go on a driving run from deep.

I can't really sum up how good a player he was. One of the best midfielders we've had in the last decade.

It would be a hard heart that hadn't produced a few tears this week-end. It's sad about all the lads who are leaving but I'll especially miss Tinks. When I moved back to the NE , 5 or 6 years ago and started going to matches again, it was Tinks as much as anyone who epitomised the team. His game was a joy to watch and I always hoped he'd get fit for just one more season.
Football's not just about football is it, it's about everything else.
Good luck, Mark

Can't have been too many better hat-tricks by a Poolie than that one vs Wrexham?

Tommy Miller's v Barnet might run it close.

the reason Pools have had so many successful seasons over the last seven years has been because of the midfield. If a team has great midfielders, it will do well regardless. Pools have had some excellent midfielders in this time. Miller, Stephenson, Humphreys, and obviously Tinkler.
Tinkler is the only player who has been able to match Stephenson's long range passing ability in my opinion. When he looked up to distribute the ball over long distance to feet, you KNEW it was going to get there. It is because of players like him we have won the lion's share of our matches, and became indomitable at home for several seasons.
