What sort of World do we live in, where the EU tell a danish zoo to slaughter a healthy Giraffe, due to the quota rule?

And what sort of people are running that zoo, that they agree to comply and kill the poor fucker?

Especially when other Zoos offered to re home it.

The world is fucking mad.

And what makes it even madder, is that some very notable socialists on here get all misty eyed over a bender sport sperson coming out, yet no comments on a poor creature slaughtered.

spot on Mutley. It was a perfectly healthy animal.

And of course Compo would probably shoot it and claim it was sport.

There was no reason at all to slaughter the animal, and no reason at all for the zoo to comply with the barking mad EU ruling.

I meant my response tongue in cheek btw. I dont agree with killing the giraffe at all. They should have just sent it to another zoo or had it in a separate enclosure if they didn't want it to mate.

I get the genetic diversity part but dont kill the poor thing just because you dont want it to breed, why didnt they just give it the snip?

Longleat have just put down some lions and cubs because they were showing aggressive behaviour. There is no word on whether they are feeding them to the giraffes.

I'm not upset about the Giraffe being killed.

But the bureaucracy that led to it really fucks me off and if I was in charge the first people I'd have shot would be morons who come up with senseless rules.

It's the same as fishermen having to chuck away dead fish, caught by accident, because they're over their quota for that type of fish. If they landed them at least they'd a) Be sold making fishermen more money & b) Lower prices as there would be more fish to be eaten. Instead we just get loads of fish killed for nowt.

It happening doesn't change my life in any way and I've got more important things to be upset about, no amount of outrage on the internet is going to mend the animal now.

Why didn't they feed our MP's to the lion. There'd been less of an outcry.

I can't understand parents who I'm presuming where campaigning against its slaughter then standing around with their kids to watch it get butchered.

What was the point in the Autopsy?

I'm no coroner but I reckon it's demise could have been linked to the bullets that were fired into it's head.

Strange case, sounds like what they did is being backed by the EAZA and they know more about conservation than me

Once it was done I get feeding it to the lions to avoid waste, but filming it for education purposes sounds like a little more education than we all need

If having a giraffe in a zoo is in some way anti conservationist, the answer seems pretty obvious to me. Leave the fuckers in Africa. What a pack of jobsworth cretins.
I really feel sorry for normal mankind.
