It's not a question I can answer, as i simply do not know how fit Marlon Harewood is. Yes, I would have taken off him or James and if it was a decision between James and any other forward at the club I would have left James on the pitch. Harewood is an unknown. Cooper has seen him train this week. I haven't, so I have no choice but to trust his judgement. It's possible that I would have taken Harewood off if I were in Cooper's shoes.

In 1 weeks training can any manager confirm a player will last 90?? We all know luke can

Harewood will provide us with more defensively from corners and free kicks. It would have been ashame whoever was taken off.

Was Richards tackle bad?

I presume this is aimed at me. A Luke James at home definitely leave him on away from home against a physical side like fleetwood it is a fairly simple choice the experienced 6ft ex premier league player every time.
Am still unsure who apart from cooper I am agreeing with, so you have lost me on that point.
As an aside if it cost me £100 to go the match I would be watching it and not spending my time on a forum talking the usual shite, just a point like

Anyone else listening to Tees, it's bad enough being down to ten men without Ivan Ash insisting on calling Compton Crompton.

Ok but he clearly can't lead the line by himself and should be replaced soon. He looks fucked, monky had te ball on a breakaway and looked to play the ball on our left as a breakaway but he just didnt move. Stupid point but like James would have.

His touch is fine but with 10 and by himself its the worse possible scenario for a debut

He'll play 90 now. Game over.

A think the result would have been the same with 10 but still think it was the in correct change. Game time will being him on I suppose so all is not lost but would have preferred to try and win this game and left the clubs best attacker on the pitch. Maybe I'm wrong but it made and still dosnt no sense to me

Can we please now stop all this bullshit about us challenging for the play offs and prepare ourselves for a scrap at the other end of the table.

Agreed. Success breeds success, and as you say only the Bury reverse was against a team you would fancy us against. Forget the play-offs, we're not ready. Let's just look at winning some games ugly.

our record against the bottom sides this season is decent. That's gonna need to continue if we are to climb away from trouble, as it would be folly to deny we are heading that way

In the last 15 league games at the Vic in which our opponents have finished a man short, we've won 12 and drawn 2. We weren't always winning when we got the man advantage and we've scored plenty of goals. I think the frustration of not winning such games tends to make them stick in the memory. Southend this season were the first side to take three points at the Vic with a man disadvantage since Huddersfield in 2005.

There haven't been very many games at all in which a man has been dismissed so early so it's difficult to see any pattern, but I think it's a reasonable guess to say that the disadvantaged side loses a large majority of them.

That stat does surprise me, thought there was at least 3 last season alone we failed to win. Must be getting mixed up with the amount of teams who come for a draw and we fail to break them
Down.

Wouldn't of though Harewood would be taken off so early in his first game. Assuming he was fit if Cooper played him. Think a fit Harewood would give us more than James in a down to 10 men situation.

Richards has caused the team and the manager a massive problem today with his indiscipline

Reading how Cooper intended to play the game out today it is massively frustrating for him and the rest of the players to have had no opportunity to make an impact on this game

Richards is only young, but he needs a spell in the reserves when Duckworth is fit, and if needs be we should persist with Holden at left back and Austin at right back until Duckworth is back

He has to learn his lesson the hard way, because he has cost us today massively

We have two full backs, Austin and Holden. No point unless it doesn't sacrifice us bringing someone in in more important areas that is.

We have two available in the entire squad, one of which if we're being honest can't defend at all.

Any of the reserves/youths doing ok in the full back positions?

tipping point match in fact.... these games set the tone for the next 2 or 3 after that

Lose this one and the pressure will be huge for Wimbledon

We need 3 points, we have to get them

I agree with all the comments about Holden I wouldn't want a left footed player playing left back able to deliever a cross without cutting back. Also we are defending so good at the moment we would have to score five to get a point.

The only positive from yesterday is harewood got 90 mins of game time. Holden will go left back and Austin right but If 1 of them gets injured were fucked.

Need to see a replay for the red card but if it was then Richards wants fucking for letting the club and fans down. Losing a man after 2 minutes didnt give us a hope in hell of winning that game

Surprised you would bring this back up but if you must then the substitution was shocking. In no way whatsoever is luke James the man man to sacrifice. Harewood was fucked and was completely thrown into the deep end. James would have lasted that game. Being the nice guy though and backing everything is you though so crack on.

Have you seen the tackle?? Was it a red and does he deserve a fine?

He tried to take the ball, unfortunately he missed it and was over the top of it. Added to the fact he was running at pace it didn't look pretty and he could have broke the lads leg. Not intended or malicious but a red card all day long.

not convinced about it being a red. Watched it 6 times last night and agree it was very agressive for a nothing situation, but
again the convincing thing for me was the Fleetwood players over the top reaction. Yet again we got done by a team deter-
mined to do everything in their power to sway the ref. We just get bullied every week, and on top of the totally inept refs we
are getting at the moment who give us sweet F.A. we need to become more streetwise, and quickly.
Last week at least one Rochdale player should have gone, but what happened. Nothing. If you can't beat them, join them. Lets bay for blood from now on every time somebody puts a dodgy tackle in etc. Looks like the only course of action!

Whatever the Fleetwood players did it was a red card, he can't connect with spuds showing halfway up someone's shin these days and stay on the field he could have easily broken his leg.

You know, I used to think it was all a bit of an act with you, that you deliberately misunderstood or misrepresented because you liked an argument. But I'm genuinely coming around to the idea that you simply don't understand light-hearted. A bit odd, but there you go.

Only seen the tackle once, and at full speed, but it looked a clear red to me unfortunately. Apologies if this means I'm not backing Richards ;)

Just didnt find it funny.

Honesty is always the best policy well done and keep it up

Having seen the tackle Richards deserved to walk, but he doesn't deserve any abuse for it these things happen and I'm sure he will learn from it.

I can also understand the reasons Cooper may have chosen to sacrifice James not Harewood: Cooper may have decided James would have benefited from a rest, Cooper may have thought James playing alone while a man short was a risk of injury, He might have wanted Harewood to get 90 minutes, He may have decided the big strong experienced man was a better option. He may of course have though none of those things but regardless I don't think it was stupid and don't think the outcome would have been any different had he subbed anyone else.
