I've just paid over 4 quid for a pint for the first time. £4.10 for a pint of London Pride, near Earl's Court. It was nice, but really I'm crying inside.

The 4 quid pint will be normal soon, £3 or more feels expensive in Hartlepool but I generally don't expect change from a tenner if I buy 3 drinks anywhere else (unless I'm in a Wetherspoons).

I don't drink enough for it to annoy me that much though, I think paying £4.50 for bottles of Peroni (the red stuff that's 90p a bottle in Italian supermarkets) was painful and that was in Glasgow.

I was in a real ale pub in Clerkenwell and one of the beers was £3.20 for half a pint, stupid me thought fuck it I'll try it expecting it to be the greatest drink the world.... It tasted like what I'd imagine cat piss would taste like.

Ayatch! I hope it was at least 8 percent for that price. Like I said, a coat with big pockets.

When I was 18 me and a mate bought a 12 pack of cans between us and smuggled them into the Gem in our coats. Very cheap night that one.

and yet in another thread you lot were blaming the supermarkets for the demise of the pubs.

Could it be that £4 a pint is causing the demise of the pubs?

Just a thought.

When I went to London with our lass we ended up in a place that would annoy Dibble beyond belief, in fact I may have mentioned it before, but its a cocktail bar where you take your own alcohol in and they mix it into things you ask for and things you might never have though of. Cost us £20 each plus our booze but we took a bottle from home and bought a bottle in the Tesco round the corner.

I'm not a huge fan of cocktails so wouldn't pay £7-12 a pop for them, but our lass loves them so this was a great compromise and I left pissed.

Spent most of last night in Camden. The wetberspoons on the lock was spot on,£6 for beer and a pint and then only £2.50 a pint of real ale and £2.60 a glass of rose. Moved on to a place called Hawley Arms and paid just over £9 for a pint and a glass of rose! Ouch
