Just the sort of stand pools should build, but when I have mentioned it, the answer is generally something negative like " what's the point when we only get 5000 crowds ( they were the crowds when it was last mentioned). Yet Barnet can't pull in 2000 and a being a London club probably attract more than average away support. Shows ambition in my book. Cyril Knowles stand is an embarrassment.

The stand holds less than the Millhouse and the entire ground holds only 5,000!

I think it was Barnet getting sick of the local council rather than showing ambition. I'm sure I've read or heard that the ground was knocked up very quickly on the existing training ground!

it says they will stay there until they can get a new purpose built ground sorted. They could easily expand that ground looking at it, to meet league requirements

always enjoyed going to Barnet, much better day out than somewhere crap like Northampton's new ground, or Scunthorpe, or where the new grounds for Shrewsbury and Colchester are. Absolute rubbish for footy fans... we like beer and pubs. Even though it's a new build, it's in London so you are never far from a boozer or a good pub crawl there and back

Can't beat it... football and beer and good craic, and if it's topped up with 3 points then the day is complete!!

Saw them doing the work on this when I was down London in July as I used to park at stanmore and get the tube in from there and it passed the ground

In that respect good days out are going to be in short supply in the future, due to all these new grounds in the middle of nowhere.

Agree entirely with what you say though. Glad I travelled away in the 80s and 90s and saw the grounds and towns as they were, central locations in towns that had pubs that weren't boarded up, near railway stations. Grim times in a way due to unemployment and hooliganism but had some great days out.

I know this will piss off some of the dinosaurs on here but Pools need to get of the Mil House Stand......now that IS an embarrassment.

The CK stand is just too small, but when it was built its foundations were put in bigger than needed, if my memory serves me right.

Also, when Pools do redevelop the ground the should lay a 3G pitch. Its the furure.

What the fuck is wrong with the Mill House Stand? Surely it just needs the seats changing?

its a relic. everyone gets wet when it rains. Its ugly. Full of moaners.

The seats are shit. Its rusty. Its wide open so no atmosphere is created.

And terracing down the side is so last year.

Not that we will probably ever need the capacity, but the Millhouse stand could easily be doubled in size by stretching it to the ends and extending backwards. But you'd have to replace it with a new one to get that.

I'd get rid of it in a heartbeat, it's rank, it's a relic.

I'm all for progress, i'd love a ground like barnets, but maybe about 10k instead of 5k.

Pubs on site, training pitches, classrooms, everything the club needs housed here.

It's the future.

Apart from one typo there is no shite in that post.

Anyone nostalgic about the mill house stand has already drunk too much christmas sherry.

If a temporary wooden stand put up to repair zeppelin damage could last until the 80s then the Mill House Stand has at least a couple of centuries to go yet. If you don't like a sea breeze while you're watching football bring a blanket and a flask.

Aye.........thats the spirit.......................lets keep our ground looking shite........................it makes us different.

And you just knew peoples need for a "mill House terrace" would override any progress.

If pools announced Yubeps ideas, as plans, and it meant 4 new stands, and smart ground, there would still be hell on, due to the mill house terrace needs.

When you proposed doing away with the Mill house stand did you mean for it to include the fans too?

Sorry but am I alone here in thinking bollocks to the ground as we cant fill it as it is and would be money down the drain, instead invest the said money in the team and get us back into League 1 and then lets piss about with stands then.

Thers nothing wrong with The Vic, its perfectly suited to the level of football we are at. Just take a look down the A66 to find what flashy new stadiums do for you. I'll stick with our "4 Bus Shelters" ta...

The nostalgia brigade wanna keep the old ground shocker... thats a new one in football.

Progress guys thats what its all about. I never said that the club have to knock the ground down tomorrow, i just think the football of the future is all in one place centre of excellences, 4g pitches, bars, places to eat etc

I could suggest that we have a whipround to see if we could afford it. We could even have a totaliser to keep track of how we're doing.

But that would be very Blue Peter-ish, amateur and childish.

Feck! this one has woke the Bunker up

The Mill House stand was years ahead of its time when built, so much so that it is still in my opinion one of the best stands in the lower division (to look at) on further inspection it could be much improved, of course this has been going to happen for years and probably never will. Can't agree with those who think the stand is pants, as has been said by some, just needs a few improvements and repairs. The Mill House stand could be the focal stand in the ground if a Barnet/Wycombe type stand isn't built on the CK stand side.

The other three sides could be CK type stands curving all the way around the ground including the corners that are currently idle and a bit messy.

Now must pop to the shop and buy that Euro millions ticket

Have you noticed some of the games on tv, championship and premier, especially when ground is half full, the fans look as though they have been taken to the match at gunpoint, miserable as fook, sat on their own with no one within 10 yards of them, whereas on the Mill House terrace, even if only 2500 in and the game is cr*p, groups of supporters (if only friends every fortnight through following pools) stood together having a laugh and making fun of themselves and the team. It is a sight to behold and long may it last.

Long live the Mill House terrace

That Barnet ground looks bloody awful, four little lego stands that could be anywhere. Some of the bigger new grounds are fantastic, Sunderland and Arsenal being good examples but the lower league versions are absolutely awful even some of the slightly smaller 'bigger' grounds like Boro, Derby (the same ground) and Stoke are terribly dull and soulless.

I hope and pray that we never move to breeze blocked identikit square boring Sixfields/Deva/Glanford ect ect.. on a retail park.

The Vic is where a football ground should be and with a modernised Millhouse and a new bigger Rink End we have the perfect lower league ground right where it is. I happen to quite like it now.

I honestly prefer Hillsborough, elland road, anfield, goodison and city ground and of course the Vic over any modern stadium.

I think the club would lose something if moved from the town centre to greatham or wherever. Give us a ground like Tranmere with a bit or a lot of terracing.....

The Vic might not by shiny sparkling new but it is perfect in my eyes. Ask any away fan who has been and they're more than likely to tell you that its just right.

Easily pleased you lot.

The Mill House stand doesnt even go the full length of the pitch. How can that possibly be described as state of the art, even when it was built?

The ends are open, you get soaked unless you are at the back, the front two rows cant see because of the barrier in front  , and it gets over crowded when it rains, because the lovers of the mill house terrace suddenly dont love it. Funny that last bit.

Apart from that its magic.
