My Dad said in the 60's/70's when he was growing up, the cup final was a huge event even if people were not a huge fan of football. He said my nana would start cooking at the crack of dawn, all the family would come round and they would all watch the final together.

The streets were just plain empty after about 1.30 pm. And there weren't many tellies in pubs them days either. And you couldn't be impartial; you had to pick a side even if it was Chelsea playing Arsenal (which it never was).

So what's the last decent final plus build up everyone remembers? When did this magic end?

I remember the build up in 96 for Liverpool v Man U, n them daft suits they had on

Most fookers these days would be bored watching the cup final build up, its a knockout etc. Computer/ mobile or the metrocentre would come calling after a couple hours. People have low boredom thresholds now, want instant gratification.Unfortunately the world has changed, people have changed. All we have are the memories.

In 1987 after 6pm the Rec was full of kids trying to do a 'Houchen' diving header, including meself.

If a team like Fulham got to the final and Berbatov scored a similar effort in a win over Chelsea would there be any kids doing a similar thing come May?

I'd give up after the third or fourth "Win 10,000 free tickets to the X-factor final. All you have to do is answer the following question by dialling 01-snodgers-4-ITV and entering the number corresponding to your answer.

The FA Cup final is:

1) The latest disc by Ollie Murs
2) The last ever FA cup game played
3) The culminating event of the sporting calendar "
