You struggle to think off the top of your head of 1 Darlo player you actually like.

You're bound to like one of the ex-Poolies more e.g. Gabbiadini, Clark etc.

I didn't know he used to play for Oxford though.

I'm going to watch Shaw Lane Aquaforce at some point. They deserve a visit just for having a name like that. No 249 on the list

Even the actual Manchester United of non league are better supported.

A scary number of clubs that we have played in league games during my 30 odd years on the planet.

Obviously one day a derby against Darlington 1883 would be fun, I used to like derby games against RIP Darlington FC.

I hope we draw them in the cup at some point would be even funnier than the last time we played the old Darlington

A very good point

Cringeworthy stuff they aren't even the best team in the league they play in and play at a Northern League ground. Also the part where he says he'd turn down a job at a League club  a) As if he'd be offered one b) would he fuck!! I remember the last time we played them at the Vic he was in charge and he was that desperate to not lose he sent out the most negative park the bus line up I have ever seen in my life. He is desperate for recognition.

Miss who?

The irritants who have nothing better to do than trolling another clubs message board?

Darlington FC that used to be our rivals?

Darlington 1883 who are as much our local rivals as Billingham Town or Horden CW?

Maybe we've been cruel.

Look at the Premier League table, Man United are 8th. So more fans than their nearest rivals (possible in the loids case) but not performing anywhere like at the level their deluded band of wankers expects. Neither of the clubs play where their core fanbase lives so that is another similarity.

Good to see Gray is deluded on every level:

"I was a hard-working, typical old-fashioned, very aggressive midfielder who stopped the better players playing. But you don’t see many of those in the Premier League these days."

That's because the few surviving dinosaurs like Lee Cattermole spend more time suspended than playing!

I'd imagine his team of fat lad semi-pros still dish out a bit of clog like...thankfully I'll never have to watch it.

If they're the Man U of non league because everyone want to beat them, does that make us the Man U of League 2 because everyone wants to beat us. Everyone wants to beat everyone regardless of division, stupid line. In fact we can be the Barcelona of English league 1.

Talking to a few people who are involved with non league football, it seems the retard has already got rid of some very good players as they werent physical enough for his style of play.

Very Man U esque.

Mind you, I have heard that a couple of more local non league sides seem to think this is the way forward too.

Backward thinking........some people never learn.

When Liverpool were winning everything in the 70s and 80s their side was full of foreigners. Those foreigner just happened to be Scots/Welsh and Irish. Hansen / Dalglish / Souness / Whelan / Rush / Nicol / Lawrenson / Aldridge / Wark. You can even throw an Aussie in Johnston. So those who say there more foreigners in the English game now are correct but a lot of the big teams still had players playing for them who weren't eligible to play for England over 40 years ago.

Gray even at fourth division level was an awful player, that year we played them on the play offs they really should of gone up with coin Reynolds was throwing at them but he was clear weak link he just used to boot people and mouth off. Added to that he is an absolute cock.

Liddle would be mine; spoke to a couple of my friends a good few years ago. He came across as a canny bloke (despite, or because of, his obvious dedication to Darlo) and took the banter offered with good grace.

F**king hypocrite!!! You lot have no chance of winning your league and seem to conveniently forget that you lose around £1m a year, a debt owed to your owners who could quite easily drop you in it if they chose to. Even if they sold you would any new owner be willing to subsidise you to such an extent? Or would your playing budget go down to Skrill North levels? You would soon find out what non league football is all about soon enough.

Things I've learned today.

Darlington fans can't accept they now support a new club.

They are deluded.

They are bitter.

Their club is so shit they hang around laughing at misfortune that might befall a proper team.

Bucket rattling must turn people mad.

It's not hypocritical it's a decent analogy.

As for budgets we are playing by FL financial fair play rules were no more than 55% of our turnover is spent on players wages. So our squad now is a fairly self sufficient one. I'd imagine Darlington 1883's is higher than 55%.... Without a bail out you'd have gone to the wall again last year at now League and the crowds have already dipped right off.

Here's good one as well, I've just checked and 1883 are 11 points off the top of the League they play in, this will be 15 if 2nd place win games in hand. Pools are 9 points off the top of League Two so it could be argued that we have more of a chance of winning our League
