Yeah but with Pietersen you got the distinct impression it was simply the latest in a long line of incidents in which he had "taken the piss" and shown no respect to any form of authority. In fact it's not even an impression as there are several documented cases of him seeming to think that he's bigger than the team. The disgraceful episode when Peter Moores was coach for a kick off.

Looking at the way Pietersen operates it's clear he's a bit of a fat head and I imagine he's a very difficult player to manage and probably even worse to play with.

I reckon it was simply a case of enough is enough. Especially given he was allegedly texting players on the team England were trying to beat.

It was only words. Poor taste yes, but still only words.

And Warners comments were actually right. They appear bad now in the context of Trotts departure, but fuck me, there are some right soft fuckers these days. If a bit of name calling affects them, and us so badly.

They weren't at all 'right' he suggested Trott was backing away, which he wasn't he was stepping inside the line of the ball (which means he had more chance of getting hit) Even if he was you don't openly mock a fellow professionals performance in a press conference with a smirk on your face. Especially a player who's achieved more in International c ricket than you have. Totally disrespectful and crossing a line.

I'm sure Warner will have times in his career when he struggles and wouldn't appreciate that. He's a thick Aussie 'lovely lovely person'.

well I watched Trotts innings, and it was staggeringly bad, and was clearly going to attract critisism and piss taking from the aussies.

As no one knew about Trotts demons then, you should have expected the pisstaking.

It was one of the worst knocks I can ever remember watching.

It made Monty Panesar look like Geoff Boycott.

Too many people now trying to take the moral high ground now about Trotts condition, but only with hindsight.

How Fatty.

Isn't the best thing that happened was that somebody spotted the gadgie was struggling, and decided that he should go home and sort himself out??

I don't think it has anything to do with people saying nasty things to him. It might be to do with the 250 nights in hotels than Cook says the team now do annually. I've done it, you've done it, and it is dispiriting. Hotels, even the best, are soulless places. He's probably just lost the desire to do it for a bit.

What I am saying is nothing to do with Trotts condition.

Infact it transpires that Trott had issues prior to the tour starting.

He should not have been there.

What is irking me is that somehow those nasty aussies contributed to it, and should be somehow ashamed.

the two things are not related.

And I am not, and never have, critisised Trott for breaking down. Even though a few, who I thought were better, have suggested I have.

Who is criticising the Aussies for the Trott situation? Certainly not me, Warners comments were stepping over the mark had he been talking about any England player. He is a fellow professional with a superb International record deserving of more respect than that.

As for Trott 'shouldn't have been there' Jesus Christ where do you start with that nonsense. He's a sufferer of depression and it's something he has obviously dealt with for a long time without it becoming public knowledge. Of course the England management were aware of this. Are you seriously suggesting of one our best players shouldn't be on an Ashes tour in case he suffers a depressive episode? To say to that takes some brilliant hindsight and is also basically saying the bloke should never have played for England after they became aware of his illness. He'd been there nearly a month and scored loads of runs leading into the first Test before things got on top of him.

Please stop reading things I havent said.

The management were aware that Trott had issues before the tour started. His condition didnt just occur after a poor match.

If they knew this they should have protected him from what has happened since.

He should never have been put through it.

He has had these issues throughout the time he's being playing International C ricket to say he shouldn't have played this match is wonderful hindsight.

Normally I don't look at the rounder thread so just caught Mr Derwent's post.

Awful for you mate, truly awful and as you say; every fathers nightmare. I can't even bear to think about it let alone consider what you went through.

My thought are with you Frank.

Obviously playing Bairstow would be like slitting our own throats

Agree with what people have said about the Aussies, total not nice people with zero perspective , but they have always been a horrible bunch of individuals win or lose.
The fact their manager is a known racist sums them up.

Think our backs are against the wall but would love to see us turn this around
