I have a laptop with Windows 7.

For a reason I just dont understand the internet isnt working properly.

It keeps saying it cant load the pages, but when you try again it links ok.

This happens all the time.

Other laptops in the house work ok with the router.

Help.

Do you have another browser (Google Chrome, Firefox etc) does it do the same on these browsers?

Internet explorer and Chrome. Does the same on both.

I just understand it.

The spec suggests its the best laptop in the house but works the worst.

Have you tried swearing at it or as a last resort twatting it really hard?

Laptops, I always think, are very like brains. Sometimes you can log on and sometimes you can't. The key is to expect nothing and then some days you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Probably already tried it but as daft as it sounds have you tried turning the router on and off? Usually that sorts any internet issues we have at home.

Also have you tried a wired connection with an ethanet cable? See what it does then.

Those builders opposite my house, right, when they first arrived and were putting up their flags, they cut through our phone/internet cable and we were disconnected for a week.

Has it ever worked ? Take a look at your update history sometimes windows updates have a habit of fucking things up

You probably forgot to switch off that secret laptop you keep in the attic and use to download gay porn. It is using all the bandwidth.

Update your windows software. If this fails sell the laptop and buy a mac.

Do the windows update (if there are any) and reset your router.

Someone said about turning the router off and on......none of the laptops seem to have a problem though.

Some of the advise made me smile.... I have no internet and the fix is to run windows update which needs an internet connection. It's on a par with the windows help function which logs onto microsoft.com to give an answer.


Q1/ Is it only this laptop that won't connect? do you have other machines that work fine?

It connects then disconnects as soon as you Try to loads another site.

worst thing is Dibble, i had a similar problem a few month ago, but can i buggery remember what the problem was or how i fixed it

back up all that you want to keep and re-install windows..its a bit harsh but almost definitely will work ..

I would rather not do that as Its the ypunguns laptop. And he has all his footy photos and stuff all over the place.

My other lads machine is playing up now as well.

Logs onto the internet, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, and gets message about DNS server or something.

I dont think I have ever said I am at the cricket, but some are too dumb to read.

We had a similar problem in the bar and we just unplugged the modem overnight, it cleared itself out and was fine the next day. All the problems we have at home are from the modem as well.

Modems are right not nice people.

Sounds as if you have a virus. Try doing a system restore from a date before you started getting the problem. If this doesn't work your IP address may have been blacklisted. DNS is the Domain Name Server

sounds like your on Virgin Media with one of those "Superhubs"???

Put it away and use both hands. Or wipe the kebab grease off the modem.
