Can't really comment until I've seen Compton play.

As nobody had ever seen them play together I'd suggest nobody can answer that question

Very strange thread

Holden, poor defensively , Compton a self proclaimed. 'Flair' player.
Hopefully cooper can mold them into an effective unit !

Doesn't necessarily mean he is poor defensively just because he is a self proclaimed Flair player.

Holden looked much better towards the end of last season, it's not as if Horwood was actually any good at defending either. I think Holden will do just fine.

Who's to say Cooper isn't going to bring another left back in as well?

Agree with this being a strange thread as people are already being negative before a ball has been kicked or without seeing some of the players play.

Let's have some positivity please people

OK. I have just looked.

We are playing in the fourth division.

So do we assume that someone thinks all the other teams in this shite division are going to have wingers like Ronaldo?

As you mentioned in another thread I think Cooper knows more about defensive players than you do.

Yes, but why can't footballers do these things. They get trained, don't they? That's what puzzles me. sctatchinghead

I think we might murder other teams down the flank offensively. Obviously we might not but as I've never seen Compton play it as likely an outcome as anything else.

Well you know when you read in the press, other media, and they say 'the Hartlepool defender, the Hartlepool striker, etc, etc, etc, well it's because they specialise in their job.

My old man was a burner who could weld but he was a much better burner. His brazing was risible.

Mitch cook werent bad, well his free kicks are corners led to loads of assists so guess that counts as attacking anyway.

What a bizzare shout that is tree

Of all the full backs we've had and you go for one who played a handful of games when we were absolutely terrible that milk turned quicker than  Didn't we sign another veteran at the same time as Cook, Dave Burgess rings a bell from memory he was about 40.

I think full back wise Neil Austin and Evan Horwood rank highly, Austin was quality in his first couple of seasons hopefully he can get that form back this season.

As so often, I'm not sure what your point is

My old man was a lathe turner. He served his apprenticeship, and when someone asked him to turn a bit of metal to a thousandth of an inch, he could do it with his eyes closed. That's specialising at your job. The functionality of ships depended on his accuracy.

Now, about these strikers who don't strike........

Ask someone when the season starts. It's quarter to three here and I have to go and urinate on some customers so they'll leave.
