in Seaton, has to be the worst eating experience in a long time, fish in limp, soggy batter, overcooked sausage in a burnt batter and flaccid chips, green ones included.

Lazy cooking standards and never been there before, the other two were busy and yes, I should have known better, once bitten and never return :naughty:

Don Bee, top fella, I remember being in those ramshackle portakabins that's now The Cyril Knowles. In them days they counted as the players lounge, must be 25 years ago, Don strides through with Ernie Nicholls to a door at the end, opens it and you could see optics etc on the walls, my mate says 'hey Don what's the difference between this room and that?'
With his usual smile and a wink he says 'plenty of money son, plenty of money' What bloke, big Pools donator, god rest his soul.

Don was the only bloke in Seaton who'd still be open to sell you a pattie at half eleven just before the No 13 left for Owton Manor Lane.

I've had some good scran at Young's the last few times I've been in town (Saturday dinner times). They are very slow to serve, but then every chip shop in the town seems to be.

And why is it that they all have to have a burly, surly lad behind the second row of friers shovelling stuff about but never saying owt? I don't think I've been in a chippie in the north east that doesn't feature one. Sometimes they are accompanied by a big old bewer.

And the young lasses who do the serving have it as part of their job description that they can't start a shift unless they have at least one visible lovebite.

In Worksop, there was one of them chip fryer in a brick shed sort of place and their stuff was shit hot, but they only opened on a Friday, dinner and tea time. He was called Barry and she was called Rosie and they used to call out the notes they were taking.

'Five Bar!!'

'Five Rose.'

Both were no less than 18 clem.

Was up Beamish a couple of weeks ago and hadn't been for a couple of years and found they've opened a fish shop with a coal fired range and even cooked in beef dripping, absolutely gorgeous.

Yes, they are too.
The queue there is weird there, though. You can stand in the same spot for ages and never move forward.
I started to wonder if we'd become artefacts in the end. People passing by were stopping to look, on their way to other exhibits.
