Background

Until mid 1981 I was a fireman on green watch at Billingham station. I then left and went back to the merchant navy.

A few months later I went back to see the lads who described a weird incident .

They told me around May 1981 they got called out to a suicide in the woods off seal sands road opposite the seal Center .

On arrival they found a body high up in the trees hanging by neck.

There were some very odd things about the scene.

I can not find any records or newspaper reports regarding the incident.

Does anyone recall the incident or are here any ex green watch crew here who attended ?

I am putting together a book about incidents of this nature and would love to hear from anyone who has knowledge of this incident.

I do know a couple of now retired firemen from the town, I'll ask if any are familiar with the story, or were stationed down there at that time.
