I like place I would usually recommend it but took f****** P*** tonight booked table not ready because full and over 2 hours later after getting it (about12 us) still waiting for main meal. Rant over I wont accept s*** service like that would rather accept S*** food than having to wait 2 hours for my meal.

Seemed as if their attitude was "Those are regulars we'll serve others and they'll accept it as one of things"

Not me walked out told lads I'll pay for 3 beers nothing more.... they can either tell them they not paying for any of mine or pay for it between themselves.

F***** disgraceful tonight ... Rant over ....End Of

It in cans... I hate poor service I really do. Like I said they can serve me s*** food I accept that food any restaurant serves wont be to the liking of everyone, So I pay and then don't return. I can't and won't accept s*** service there's no excuse for it.

I rate the place I really do. I did walk out. explaining to lads why. It started with 5 of us going for the £8:95p 5 course meal now about once month there's 12-15 of us going and service tonight was below poor it really was poor nothing elsecan describe it. If lads decide to return I'll go if it same then I won't return. sure ElvisC will agree. Bresslaw as well.

Had similar in there a few years back, sat down, ordered food, got starters, ate starters, waited over an hour no main course. We complained, food appeared almost instantly but full order was wrong, so we left only paying for drinks and starters. The lad servicing got rude and almost abusive and we've never been back since.

I've always rated Dilshads, but the last few months they seem to be going down hill. On food and service.

Also had similar a few times. First time I thought I was willing to let it go. But 2 hours waiting to be fed is a bit much, Second time I went was in there for nearly 2 and a half hours, There was next to no one in the restaurant either.

Not been back since, great food but balderdish service. I was convinced the poor service was to encourage you to spend more on drinks! I've been to other places that do similar too. But no where near as slow service as Dilshad

Is this a bunker first that "balderdish" has been used two posts in a row?

Must admit I always thought it was "balderdash" like.

Like I said on a thread earlier in the week I have yet to find an Indian anywhere that compares to the Dilshad for value, choice of menu or quality of taste, but the one thing that lets them down time & time again is their poor service. I cant remember a time that I have been in recently when the service hasnt been poor, but the quality of the food makes up for it most of the time.

I think this "poor service related to buying more drinks" thing is more common than you think. I was at a work's do in west Hull a few months back, there was about 30 of us, we ordered at 8, received starters at 9 then eventually ate main meals at 11! Went through plenty of drink like so I suppose their wretched plan worked. Couples were coming in around us and getting their starters/mains almost instantly.

Bout 11pm on a Sunday night is best time to go.. In and out with a pint after about 40 minutes. Food is probably been there for hours on end but who cares when your half cut

We have a local company that does deliveries on beverages and the Dilshad is the only place I refuse to deliver to. The kitchen is shambolic and I cant understand why people go there, I mean you only have to round the back of the place at 5pm daily to see the partially cooked chips, defrosting of chicken under hot water and a 5 inch layer of grease on the windows. This is not a rumour this is a fact, go and have a look yourselves.

Your clearly not looking very far.

Value - every Indian in town does the same Sunday/Thursday 5 course menu.

Choice of menu - they all do virtually an identical menu.

Taste - had a dilshad last Sunday n it was ok but nowt special, Bahji on raby road is just as good, n their set menu is only 5.95

You just copied what the guy up above said, people go there cos the food tastes good. Simple.

Yes I am:

Value - Yes they all do a Thursday/Sunday special, but some of them only have a set choice of what you can have, The Dilshad is a choice of anything on their usual menu.

Choice of menu - Yes they all do a korma, madras, vindaloo etc, but the chefs specials are different wherever you go.

Taste - Thats down to individual choice, I think The Dilshad taste better than other Indians I have been to.

Never been to Bahji on Raby Road, thanks for the tip, might try it sometime.

You lot don't half spout some claptrap.

Dilshad is the Netto of curry houses.

Each to their own and fair play to those who enjoy it, some people obviously just prefer cheap muck.

Didn't they get a lot of really bad publicity a few years back over hygeine standards? I go to Cafe India when I'm in town, nowhere else is anywhere near as good in my opinion.

Stages do an excellent homemade Madras curry with rice/chips, naan and chutney for 3.99, the recipe was passed down from our houseboy Gupta years ago when I was a kid, Mr Elkots had 1 on Thursday and the plate was clean
