We wouldn't have got the new signings on one year deals, in fact it's doubtful we'd have got anyone to sign by offering a one year deal!

Luscombe

Howard

Essentially a 4-5-1 / 4-4-1-1

That's not a bad team but id swap the two full backs for Holden and Richards or Rowbotham!

I understand that, as I said it was the latter group who renewed the previous summer on the longer term 2 plus 1 deals (which I have understood are very good deals for league 1 even) who I was referring to.

Even last season many of this group allegedly were not doing some of the 'optional' at the time additional fitness sessions on strength work.

To be fair I think Cooper this time around in pre season was much stricter on the work he expected in training eg his treatment of luscombe.

I'm sure they look great in training, however once they go out onto the pitch there's not much he can do!
Yes tactically there have been mistakes and possibly within the coaching there's problems but it's obvious some of the players are now just not good enough for league one footy.
Doesn't excuse the lack of endeavour mind!!

Poole wouldnt get a game on the rec, i have never seen such a half arsed, dont give a shit, i am better than league one attitude for a long time. He has never looked like he enjoys it, on or off the pitch always miserable. He has obviously got the talent but its not enough. Cooper has probably seen this and he is now on borrowed time.

Got to wonder if Wadsworth was getting the best out of him. I seem to recall when he went back after his loan, Mick being in constant contact with him etc

No doubt he had a great relationship with Mick because of this.

He should work just as hard for any manager mind.

Chip I think that Allon, Barron and Howard tweeting almost certainly was a joke referring to the past. Barron has talked lot's of times about the lack of professionalism when he first joined the club specifically making his debut at Hereford on loan from Boro. He said he couldn't believe that as soon as they arrived in Hereford on the Friday everyone checked into the hotel and went straight to the pub!! Howard and Allon were part of that set up.

Most of the stuff between players on Twitter is an extension of dressing room 'banter' which can't be taking too literally.

It worries me that Cooper in his interviews says how happy he was with the Swindon performance. If thats a yardstick for us playing well then god help us.

If Cooper thinks the problem is players hiding then surely he has to drop Sweeney.

I'm not sure you could ever accuse Sweeney of hiding. I think his problem in a 4-4-2 is he almost covers too much ground he's like Forest Gump he never stops running but I think in that formation it needs a bit more discipline and nous at times. For a central midfielder he certainly doesn't touch the ball enough, he doesn't get into enough positions were he's actually showing for the ball and when he does get lets be honest he's not the most technically adept footballer in the World. That's not to say he's doesn't have strengths as a footballer and positive attributes. His strength is timing his forward runs and getting on the end of things, that's why a five man midfield suits us because we have someone who if slotted into that formation will score goals form midfield, currently in a 4-4-2 we don't look like we have anyone who'll score goals from any position.

It's baffling that the management team actually seemed to think that the tactics they've used would be a long term option. You are saying about Sweeney exactly what most people have said for about 5 seasons (some possibly even more) so why don't professionals in the game know this?
