It is indeed fooking fantastic beer, rivalled only by the mighty, and appropriately named, Le Goudale. Leffe is Life but look what happens if you drink too much-

You mispronounce things and become a bit of a Nazi :o .

Not seen that anywhere.

Got a large bottle of the brown one and a few small bottles of blonde one from Tesco the other day.

I was stuck in a hotel in france a year ago and the best bit about it was the leffe at the bar (it was the only drink they had on draft) lovely stuff but never realised quite how potent it was until I saw the label back here recently!

beautiful beautiful beer - the brown and the blonde stuff. Chimay 8 or 9% is great too, as are many Belgian beers.
Had a great couple of weekends in Bruges with some mates, spending our nights sampling different Belgian beers in their different odd shaped glasses, going through the menu...

There is also a Leffe Ruby which I always feel obliged to buy because of the Strongarm link. The brown Grimbergen is well worth a try for a change but at less than 4 euros for six bottles of Leffe blonde I keep returning to the Belgian Beast.

Bet you were sat in the sun- you mustn't let it get warm, warm Leffe is vile. For a 33cl bottle give it 30 minutes in the freezer, ideally nestled in a bag of peas, and then enjoy in moderation.

Beautiful spot M Ritter but you need to stay focussed, from the start of June to the end of September beer needs shade.

I used to live in Bruges! Fantastic place for food and beer.

If you'e ever in Bruges, this is the must visit bar...hard to find as it's down a tiny side street, but the De Garre Tripel is mighty fine...problem is it's about 11%!!!

I like a Duvel myself, but this is one of the finest beers on earth!Image

Lovely though Bruges is, if you don't want to cross the water, this place though not exactly handy (unless you're AberdeenPoolie) is great http://www.theanderson.co.uk/ .... all the beers of Belgium and all the whiskies of Scotland under one roof.

God knows what the food was like, I can't remember the rest of the night.

Count me in as a Bière d'Abbaye hater. I can't stand the 'orrible syrupy stuff.
As for the rest of the Belgian beers, apart from the taste, the problem is you can't have a good sesh with them. Two pints and you're blathered.

Paulaner, Pastis, Pouilly Fumé, that's where it's at. :handgestures-thumbup:

I took an Australian mate round Europe and we spent five days in Belgium. We went to one of the bars, she chose fruit beer and was trashed after half a litre.

Big drinkers my arse!!

Have to pass on some very bad Leffe related news.

Our lass very kindly bought me some beer but I've just discovered that it is Leffe with honey in it banghead . Why would you do that to perfectly good beer? She didn't notice that the box is a bright yellow honeycomb and is claiming that it is, "all they had". No choice but pastis for tonight's apero.

Surely its worth trying?

Leffe Blonde has a banana taste to it and even that works quite well!

Certainly worth trying- that's why I can tell you that it is sickly sweet and undrinkable. I think you'd get a similar flavour if a giant bee pissed in your glass. I'll give it to somebody who's annoyed me next time we have a barbecue :animals-chimp:

 fair enough. I will avoid that one if Tesco ever stock it.

Like a Leffe, but find it a bit bland compared to some of the beers that Belgium has to offer. My favourite (probably bias as a result of touring the brewery that makes it when I was over there) is the Bruges Zot. Heavenly.
