...godawful defending of the worst standard. Flinders had movement tonight like Charlie Cairoli, he came off his line when he shouldn't, was slow, and our two fullbacks ....jeez never got a tackle in, marking non-existent, powderpuff basically....embarrassing. Pardew must have asked us not to kick anyone pre-match or summit. Game was over 7 mins in. Howard best player foor us by a street and three houses. I know it was only a friendly .....but it's near neighbours f.f.s.

Yeah let's fly into tackles 4 days before the start of the season, if nobody came out of the game injured then that's a result.

It's a game against very good opposition that I'm sure Cooper and the players didn't really want. But the bigger picture is nearly 5,000 turned up so it's a few quid for the coffers.

I knew we'd get dicked tonight and I'm not at all bothered that we did!

It was a friendly!! Against a very good team. We could have played better but are we going to be playing teams as good as that every week?

As for flinders I find it extremely difficult to criticise him. He is a fantastic keeper and we are going to find it very difficult to keep hold of him. Plus I think he made some great saves again tonight

I must admit to enjoying the game.

I can handle watching pools get stuffed when a side plays football of that standard against us. I thought Newcastle were superb. For all people like to slag off the premier league, the gulf in quality was huge.

Seeing the amount of 60 yard passes straight to feet was brilliant. Ive never been to a premier league match so it was a bit of an eye-opener. West Ham and West Brom from a couple of seasons ago were nothing like that.

Ten pound well spent imo.

A few thoughts:

* Howard is our best player (and im happy to admit that I was not keen on us signing him, but thank god we did)
* I think Holden is a better left back than horwood.
* Horwood should be put on the left wing as he cannot be any less effective than monkhouse.
* Luke James looked more like his old self.

It's the end of the world. It's Apocalypse now. The angel of death is approaching! In fact, if you've got a minute.....

Nine o'clock flight from Hawaii
The Trident is just touching down
We're waiting here on the tarmac
McGarrett is wearing a frown
He's here to help with a problem
A blood-spattered curse on our land
Please cast your eye over this map, sir
This business is quite out of hand
The circus of death is approaching
Its pathway is painted in red
Before it the frightened and helpless
Behind it a trail of the dead
The narcotic that forges their union
Is a substance known only to one
To the clown it is known as Dominion
It's a secret that he'll give to none
The drug which gives the clown power
Means the circus can never be stopped
And his dream can go on unhindered
Till the last human being has dropped

James looked good in parts tonight but we need to get him stronger. Howard is our best player and for me franks looks like he will do some damage in our league. Very happy with our signings and if and it is a big if, we can get luscombe to full fitness he showed us tonight what he capable of. We have less players this season than last but I feel like it a better squad. :)

Murray come on and looked canny, done a few of their players for skill.

The ball looked glued to Ben arfas foot at times, amazing trickery.

The 2 wingers were a class above, if they can't even get in the Newcastle side, then it just shows how good first team players like jonas, collicini, cabaye etc really are

Enjoyed the game-bad start but no disgrace against a strong side-Newcastle's movement and passing showd the gulf between the divisions. James Tavernier played well a right back who likes to get forward-kept an eye on him for last couple of years- been out on loan loads-reckon he'll get his chance and make a name this year for the Mags.

Obertan looked good aswell when he came on- A shame we didn't give them the rink end aswell to swell the coffers further!

I dont know you to form an opinion either way. I am sure like me you have your good points & bad points, but I dont find most of the things you write funny like everyone else does, but that could be just my fault.

I did find it strange that you chose not to go to the match the other night cos a friend was going to support Newcastle, thats a silly reason not to go.

If you have met Mutley you would remember. One of the funniest blokes on here and a hoot to have a drink with. He looked like a mad garden gnome dressed as a smurf at Charlton.
