It just goes to show the lack of respect some of the top players have for the lower leagues, or that they only do actually play for money and not the love of the game

Can't fault the guy for wanting to play at the highest level possible but I think he might have to be a bit realistic if he wants to keep playing football. I thought a club like QPR would have signed him, who can afford good wages and premiership football. He'd still do a good job for championship club I reckon

I fail to see how not biting the hand off the first Championship offer means he doesn't love the game. I've actually met Michael Owen and he is one of the most down to earth people you could meet, wanting to prolong a top flight career I'd say is for the love of the game as I'm sure he could easily move to an oil rich middle eastern side for example and pick up a very handsome wage there. By saying he wants to play in the top flight, he's actually risking not getting any money at all.

He's probably the dullest footballer around.

He was good about 10 years ago but he peaked too soon.

but he says he'll not drop down the leagues as so many have, indicating he never will

if he truly loved the game and had a determination to play he'd take any chance he can, he's still got a decent rep within the game and i read stoke offered him a contract, if he thinks hes better than stoke then i think he's ego needs to be shot down a peg or two.

At 32 and with his injuris he'll be lucky if he makes 35, he's lost about 3 seasons to injury in total he should wanna make up for that and play as much football as possible.

I dont see why wanting to go out at the top level makes somebody arrogant

Be honest, even at 32 Michael Owen is far too good for the Championship. If Van Persie goes I reckon Arsenal should take a punt.

Michael Owen wants to go out at the top, so he`d better call it a day now. Only playing a handful of games in the past few years shows it was the club (Man U) not the playing of the game that he saw as his priority.

No it just shows there were better players ahead of him. I'm sure he wasnt sat on the bench through choice
