Hopefully the same can happen to Celtic next and give the rest of the teams up there a relatively equal chance of winning something for a couple of years. bbolt

They could end up in the Highland League at this rate....those clubs would love the away revenue like. Some of them get double figures as home gates.

good on the likes of st johnston, hearts etc for voting them out, it would have been very easy to vote them in n get the revenue from the home games.

In these days of money grabbing in football, it is good to see sporting integrity taking preference.
Once again the true heart of a football club, the fans, are the ones facing the heartache.

Given the new owner has said he wont release any first team players can you imagine some of the scorelines next season if they end up in Scottish League 3 ?

Some of their opponents will let you play for them in a league game as A Triallist for a couple of hundred quid.

I think the clubs in Div 3 won't mind a thrashing when they are counting the gate receipts. They all dream of a cup tie with the big two and now they've got one. I'll bet some of them will apply to play their home game with Rangers at Ibrox.

It just gets worse in that case. They don't want to play for Rangers and this shiny arse is going to make sure they do??

Look forward to some scintillating displays.....

I agree, I mean it hasn't happened since.... er..... a few months ago when Kilmarnock and Hearts won the two cup competitions.

As for Rangers themselves, they deserve everything they get. Run up huge debts, not paid their taxes, had dual contracts for players who would never have signed for them otherwise. They are reaping everything they sow. In the interests of integrity, they should start again in the third division.

Could this case be a watershed and are HMRC going to be a lot less understanding now the precedent has been set?

Hopefully. On a personal note I cant wait to see how the FA treat the next club that doesnt meet their expectations of paying off the old companies debts! As you say, the precedent has now been set.

Even if loads or all of their players do one?

Have they had their transfer embargo lifted like?

If they're going to start from that level then wouldn't it be an opportune moment for them to look towards the English leagues?

Thats what I was thinking they have a minimum of three years before they are back in SPL or they could apply for english league (start low down) and take around 4-6 years to get into Championship or PL.

They have wanted this for years and suprised they havent done it. Although they will probably make this decision after the vote is finalised on the 4th July.

4-6 years starting low down in English Leagues and having to form a completely new team, that time scale might be a bit on the optimistic side. Why should the English league accept a team that seems to have spent time "cheating" by not paying bills etc. And if some reports are correct giving players 2 contracts (Chesterfield come to mind and we all know how Pools fans feel about them) They've brought it on themselves yes once more it's the fans who suffer. Whose to say it'll be the Scottish 3rd division, it may be only one division they're relegated and so a good chance they'll be back in the SPL season after. Juventus bounced straight back after their relegation( different reasons for it though) and the same would happen with Rangers.

I agree with you Bob, but if Rangers went into the lower leagues and started from scratch in England lets be honest they would fly up the leagues with the financial power that they will generate once the transfer embargo is over due to support. This then will put them in a stronger position in 1) Scotland as they will be a bigger club than Celtic playing in a bigger league 2) Within Europe attracking better players. They can bang their gums all there like saying they are the most successfull team in the world winning more trophies etc, but its all relative its like me saying I always win in and arse kicking competition between my mates who happen to have only one leg each.

I dont want this to happen as its a slippery slope towards a Europe Super league which we all know what the top 10 teams want in England.

As far as I'm concerned if Rangers were to even think about joining the English leagues they should be told to fook the welcome to the board.

The same goes for Celtic too.

As a newco they would have to start at Northern League level if the FA are going to be consistant from now on!!

If Rangers joined English football they'd be like MK Dons and would be a frankenclub probably having to base themselves south of the border, perhaps their owners could buy out Berwick and just swap leagues at least they're in the right country for a proper football league.

If they start at BSP level they'd buy a promotion or two by taking on debt, would struggle to compete against the more established sides in L1 for a few years and would probably then end up a perennial championship side flirting with promotion and relegation forever. I doubt they'd ever become an established club, as their entire history is based on occasionally winning a series of two horse races and qualifying for Europe by playing in a country where they have no competition.

I disagree Rangers have massive fan base and they would easily sustain life in Championship and then into the PL. There supporters are like Newcastle lots of them and blind thinking they are a massive club.

Also, why would they have to be based in England?

Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham etc...

It just seems wrong to bring a club from a country with a league system that is well established enough to support clubs of their size into the English leagues, and their fans would cause havoc everywhere they visited.

However if it sets a precedent we should apply to play in the Scottish leagues like Berwick as I reckon we'd be a decent SPL side.

From what I've read today, it seems their fans are hanging off buying season tickets because they don't know what is going to happen in the next few months. Neither do the owners.

I don't think they'd cause havoc though Mr Alien, they only kick off against traditionally Catholic teams like Celtic and Hibernian and we don't have sectarian clubs unless you count Luton. bbolt

I do agree though that they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the English leagues and I have to say I don't think they'd set English league football on fire. I have both Celtic and Rangers mates here and having watched some of their games, they're both bloody awful.

I went to a bar in a small scottish shitehole (About 80 miles south of Glasgow) that was filled with Rangers tat, they hated Liverpool as much as Celtic but apparently liked English teams in general just not 'they Mick not nice people' like you say.

Funnily enough me being from Hartlepool and having hung a Monkey was probably the only thing that stopped us getting our heads kicked in by a group of people who made Rab C Nesbitt and Jamesy appear like models of human decency.

They should be dropped into the 3rd division, but my guess is once the other clubs in the SPL vote them out of that, they will be placed in the 1st division so that their absence from the SPL is for only 1 season.

The division 1 clubs are stacking up against them now. Falkirk, Raith Rovers and Morton have all said they don't see why they should join at that level.
