We all know why. Petty, pathetic and to the detriment of the Town. Let's forfeit regeneration and improvement for personal agenda.

These e mails need to be redirected away from these tossers to higher up. I want to know if the MP backs or opposes. I'll be writing to
him.

My guess is that Ian Wright will declare an interest because he has a season ticket, refuse to offer an opinion and laugh behind his hand if it gets rejected by the labour party.

I think Drummond should start a no campaign, he should oppose it and publicly declare he isn't a pools fan anymore, and reveal that he only took the job as H'Angus to spy for other clubs, he should then be photographed for a week wearing random PL shirts like every other Hartlepudlian.

That will make the Labour Group burst because they'll want to vote no but will find it impossible to side with Drummond.

It's a plan that can't fail.

Here is the e-mail.

Many thanks for the email. Unfortunately I do not take the view that it is in the interests of Hartlepool to hand over the ground to IOR. If I use Newcastlle for example where they do not own the ground but operate very successfully for the people of Newcastle I see no value in parting with a major asset of Hartlepool Borough Council. At the present time the ground, by being owned by the Council is ultimately in the ownership of the people of Hartlepool and as such I shall be opposing any transfer.

Kind Regards,

Christopher Akers-Belcher
Councillor for Foggy Furze

That's it, kiss the sale goodbye, it won't happen now.
I wish I'd known how he felt about the sale before the election.

I really do worry that if this does not go through then IOR will pull the plug. As said elsewhere it is about far more than HUFC, but the club have gone out of their way to demonstrate how much added value they bring to the town. If, after all of that, this is still turned down I do believe they will think VERY seriously about commiting any more money.

I hope I am wrong, but I don't think I am.

To the detriment of the surrounding area and going against a company that brings £5m a year to the town (independent report).

If this is the kind of attitude we're dealing with then we're knackered.

What chance IOR say fook it. Move us down the 66 to the Echo Arena for a couple of years, while they finance a new stadium, somewhere nearby, but outside of the reach of the council numbties.

Probably not!

I would love it if IOR said foook you to the council and built a new ground somewhere near the old one, like the marina.
It could be an alternative.
What's the going rate for building new grounds!

Chip, do you really think lobbying will do a blind bit of good? these monkeys do what they're told by their political group. If the whip said put up business rates by 500% they would vote for it.

I'm sure his other half will so that makes 2.
Add Ged Hall who apparently is against it.
I'd like to know of those who are definitely in favour!

If you go onto the Hartlepool.gov website, find the link for surgeries, everyone basically states, " to be advised"
So, it's just an email to your local councillor requesting info for the next meeting!

I got laughed at when I suggested Hartlepool council would drive Pools to a new ground in the Stockton/Billingham area.
It is getting more and more likely.
Unless IOR get completely fed up and walk away altogether.
I don't know why they bother.

Remember to kkep the pressure on about the whole of the development. Lets not try to make it just a HUFC thing - which it isn't. It's about re- enegising the whole area, with the support of HUFC who according to the INDEPENDENT report contribue 5 million a year to the local economy.

We are in danger of losing the 5 million and having a derelict site there for the next 20 + years.

I have no problem with the council not letting IOR have the site. If they can tell us exactly in detail why not, if they can provide evidence to back up their reasons and if they can come up with firm interest to buy the land for more than IOR are willing to offer.

I'd guess the last bit will never happen and the rest will be waffle and lies.

IOR could take anything of value from the site, move to club to anywhere they choose with FA approval and leave HBC with a fucking useless field as an asset.

Given a choice between owning a few acres of land in the town centre, OR, having a multi-million pound business that brings national exposure a feel good factor and does a lot for the community and the image of the town but not owning the land, as a council tax payer I'd choose the second option and as a councillor who should be forward thinking and pro-active in creating opportunity I would choose the second option.

It is my opinion that those in the Labour group who agree with the opinion of the ABs will vote against the transfer, I think some of the older Independents and the PHF people will too, those who support the transfer but are Labour members will bottle it like they did with the budget decision and will abstain to avoid upsetting the Labour powerbase.

Hartlepool showed its apathy at politicians a few weeks ago, the towns folk simply tolerate them they don't care enough to vote, the politicians have showed they don't give a toss about the towns financial position because they want pay rises despite the town having no buses after 6pm and the fact that they've haemoraged a fortune on things such as the transport interchange and Baden street and are still pissing money away like it grows on trees.

Labour want to control everything, that is the way they work have a very well paying welfare system that stops people bothering to think, reduce voter confidence so you only need 10% of the population to vote for you to gain your mandate, tax the shite out of anyone who is sucessful and create as many non jobs as you can to keep the proles on side. The very idea of selling off even the most meaningless 'asset' that the Labour party have a stake in would probably make some of them explode with rage.

PS - I already thought about the scenario if IOR moved Pools to the Stockton bit of Wynyard, or built on the Crimdon or Wingate side of the border - I would support this in future wholeheartedly if the council refuse to do anything about this. In fact, if they don't give the ground over - I would gladly petition IOR to do this!!!!!! The town of Hartlepool would then deservedly rot in its own festering pool of piss with an empty footy ground. I never thought like this before - but I would attend the games outside of the town now. The club could run transport similar to other places/areas. I would personally prefer it to be built in Yakker territory as half of our fans are Yakkers anyway. I'm sure Easington Council would give their right arm for that kind of development and publicity, unlike the arseholes who run this town. I really believe that would be the best punishment to HBC and its bunch of regressive, repressive, repulsive, Luddite-faced councillors

Go on IOR - do it if they turn you down. I'm sure we'll all feel the same way in backing our owners. Take this money out of town and let the councillors explain their reasons for rejecting the bid at that moment in time - let's see how many see it their way then. Big business CAN turn the tables on government, and frequently does - let's do it to HBC if they fuck this off
