Having not been a member on here long even under my other name,I don't know why Spinbowler was previously banned.But being allowed back he should not sail to close to the wind and reverse to type.
We have had threads on Mrs T where some of the posts were not particulary nice yet were allowed to be posted.
A year ago I was branded a fookin moron and a mackem irritant who should be banned,no-one took any notice.
Anyway most people didn't see the post and those who did thought it was in bad taste,fair enough

I don't think this is just about this post. Spinbowler was allowed back in on the basis that he wound his neck in and didn't revert to the sort of shite he used to post. He was fine for a while but he has gradually reverted to type. My instinct is to boot him out on the basis that he has reneged on the original agreement, not just with this post which I suspect (no more than that) was not made in error.

Since this is a community we'll put it to the vote with a two thirds majority needed to evict.

I've always viewed that as a "personal taste" issue, and as I think it's not really my bag I don't enter it.

If you put the situation into perspective, a footballer collapsed doing his job, sad, I didn`t know him to grieve and if the press and tv hadn`t been flooded with the unfortunate incident, most people wouldn`t remember his name in a few days!

Get on with your daily lives and spoil your mother/the mother of your kids and enjoy the day, life goes on!

Yubep. It is a sad situation. I acknowledged that. But I also felt that the outpouring of grief was completely ott. I have lost several friends doing there jobs and were mourned in dignity. Not all over the media in order to look good!!!

Social networking has given a voice to everyone, footballers, celebs, ordinary joe public, so when something tragic happens, it always seems like it's OTT when really it's no bigger than how it used to be, people just have a new medium which puts it across to more people now than before.

Thats the way i see it anyway.

Its the internet in general-gives the illusion of closeness/caring without any effort.
Ie what happened to Muamba---clearly a very bad thing--but what does everyone do--mention it on facebook or twitter---makes them look all sentimental for literally under 30 seconds of their time.

Its not just grief outpouring it's 'activism' as well.

I recall one way to 'show awareness' of the environment a few years ago was for everyone to turn the facebook pages 'green' or some nonsense--that way everyone can pretend how much they care without making any real change to their lives.

Maybe the Diana public grieving, the advent of 24 hour celebrity, social media giving average joe the chance of communicating with their 'heroes' and the needy nature of many younger people who have to be individual but at the same time must fit in has all collided to create a monster.

I'm certain the Internet is utterly distorting established social norms and within ten years a large proportion of our workforce and most of our nations kids will have no social skills at all.

Oh and apparently in the wake of all this the police have arrested a 21 year old for racially offensive tweets that are thought to be about muamba.

why were football fans applauding and chanting a player from another teams name, one who'd just almost died on a football field? why?

because we're all human beings and by and large we mean well while being all too aware that it could be us, the clocks ticking, WERE ALL GONNA DIE, and we hope that someone will be arsed too when we eventually die.

I had a very very small connection to Diana, in that I was at a funeral some time before her death. It was for the wife of a good friend of mine who I had worked with for a number of years. She had worked for the Royal Family, and had been a nanny for William and Harry. At the funeral a message was read out from Diana, to pass on her condolences to her family, it was a very moving moment, and I know it may well have been written by a member of her staff, but it was certainly appreciated. So on the day of Diana's funeral, I did find myself being carried along with the public grief, but I didn't camp out on The Mall the night before.

Only problem with this going viral is that it is crap, the youth aren't up to speed with African politics at all. It is a great example of what is bad about Twitter and Facebook because it shows that simplistic shyte can go viral. I'm no expert on Uganda but there a few points they missed out:

Kony isn't even in Uganda, and hasn't been for years, but the Kony 2012 campaigners call for US military intervention in Uganda to catch him.

Given the military strength of the Ugandan state it seems amazing that Kony's forces have been able to terrorise half the country with impunity for years. It gets less surprising when you realise that it is the half of the country that opposes the current president. By allowing militias to drive the population out of their homes he stops them voting against him but the campaigners ignore this and want military support to help the president stop Kony.

Uganda's tourist industry, which is worth hundreds of millions a year, has collapsed leaving a poor country even poorer.

Being one of the original Bunkerers doesn't seem to hold much water nowadays Mutley. Trolls are much more likely to be defended and treat well than the small group of pioneers from those days.

There is only two things that really annoy me about the bunker the overwhelming RIP threads about people that basically we have never met or just watch on TV and everyone posting on it and people like spin bowler who offer nothing to comments on threads but just post one line comments to annoy everyone.

Why does it bother people how people express grief or show support? At the end of the day it's a perosnal choice and if someone decides to do it by attending the funeral in London in Diannas case or applauding at a football match in this case why should it be described as "embarrassing"?

Good point, I would imagine the trouble with them is that if you tolerate them they become background noise. Banning them or attacking them plays into their hands and if you kick one out he'll come back over and over again.

I would've prefered a third way ... Don't ban him but let post only in Sussex's peronal forum!
