There is a development plan on the council website about the proposed development of the millhouse area go to 5.11.

http://www.hartlepool.gov.uk/egov_downl ... Agenda.pdf

The survey that was carried out was very positive and showed IOR to be doing sterling work for the town.
The mail will be getting told the plans today and hopefully they will be on board to push it on.
We the fans have our part to play with.

letters to your councilor.
letters to the mail.
radio Hartlepool.
3 legends.
message boards and finally a massive turn out at a open council meeting when i get the date.

We really need to as pools fans to do our bit how ever small you think it is IMO with IOR owning the ground we could be championship side within years.

Excuse my spelling and bad grammer. thanks.

Mr Dough, you have a PM.

It's not about this like, but you've got one anyway!

Wonder what the offer was then?

"This offer was considered by the Hartlepool United Football Club
Executive Committee on 2nd September 2010 and rejected on the
basis that the Club’s valuation of the ground and land to the north was
less that a tenth of the estimated value of the Council’s interest in the
ground"

You all this stuff about the world ending when the Mayan calendar runs out?

Apparently negotiations to sell the ground back to the club were know of in Central America way back when, and they predicted that ownership would pass from the council to the club in December this year.

So the calendar running out had nowt to do with the world ending, as they knew that we would have the technology to print Ritchie Humphreys calendars on paper by then (he had just signed for Pools at the time).

I think this part the council should stand up and realise what an asset to the town IOR are:

Taking into account the wider impact of the club on local businesses
and services i.e. food and drink, accommodation and travel,
Hartlepool as a town gained £5 million in Gross Value Added and 185
full time equivalent employees from the operations of the Club in
2011/12.

So IOR now want the ground for nothing as the economic impact study says HUFC are cushty.

The council need a lump sum of 100k to offset the loss of income from the rent IOR pays.

And finally the ground is worth £635k if sold commercially, but the council are going to vote on the land being given to the club.

"It is suggested that Cabinet consider the potential transfer of the land at nil consideration on the basis of paragraph 6.4 and seek consent of Council at its meeting on 12th April 2012."

That's all factually correct?!

I think what they mean Mr Bap, is that the benefits in kind to the town outweigh the commercial value, but 100k to offset the income (I believe the annual rent is 30K) they receive is fair recompense.

Sounds very positive to me. clappp

Pools should have this on the website with a nice community article to go with it.

The plans look good, the town (Marina aside) has been in desperate need of some proper regeneration and new ideas for ages. It's obvious from the survey that Pools are pivotal to any of this being a success, the council should be scrambling to get this kicked off.

Errrr, hang on a second like.

I've just had a quick scan through that, and especially the Appendix 5, and it looks like Gus Robinsons are wanting to knock The Mill House pub down.

Apart from that it all looks reasonable, but can anybody shed any clear light on the plans for the pub?

it's a really old building that - before anything else was built in the area the Mill House showed on old Ordnance survey maps - I'm sure of it. It has to be a listed building surely?

I'm pretty sure it would go if the plans go ahead, first heard this a couple of years ago.

So I'm pretty sure it can't be a listed building as surely the wouldn't be able to plan to get rid of it?

Wouldn't that have to be done through a compulsory purchase?? It's not like it's derelict or owt or owned by the council?? Some questions to be asked there.

Surely with the Millhouse being right on Raby Road, there's no need to flatten it. There's road access one side and pedestrian access the other??

It was an old mill house wasn't it hence the name of the area and the pub.

Unless I've missed it twice I saw no mention of knocking down the Mill House pub all I ever read was Mill House area so it was referring to the area and not the pub. I re-read again tomorrow though unless some one can actually just copy /paste where it mentions knocking the pub down. Or just give the paragraph and sub paragraph were it mentions it.

is it only me who is worried that, despite a recommendation to transfer the land to the club as per paragraph 6.5, that there are always sufficient numbers of maverick self-serving councillors who are always actively looking to vote against this - and think of an excuse later because they can't seem to find one now? I'm not going to build my hopes up yet only for them to be dashed by this kind of usurping, which has been prevalent in the backwards-thinking mantra and ye olde political dogma from certain quarters in this town for decades.
As our esteemed member Snowy once referred to - the fore-sighted forefathers of our town must have been turning in their graves for the best part of the past 100 years at the Luddite tendencies of the local councillors and the people who vote for said councillors.
Mr I has also mentioned this - only in Hartlepool is there an attitude of "can't be done" and lethargy and apathy, even from people who should be setting the example. No wonder many of its townsfolk reflect this in their everyday drudgery of an existence. It is time to shake off these shackles once and for all, and on April 12th they had better do the right thing for the first time in their lives.

There a big reason for accepting the recommendation now though Parmo and that is come May there's a full council election. Ask those who knock on your door for their answer to

Will you be voting yes on the recommendation to transfer the ground to HUFC ?

If it no simply tell them they don't get your vote.

appendix 4 paragraph 8.5 scenario analysis - what more needs to be said? Other league one clubs of the stature of HUFC could only dream of having IOR as owners, and this is not a pipe dream - it is achievable, and with IOR's track record it WILL be achieved if ownership of the ground is granted.
Seriously, what is there to discuss at the Council about this?
Hopefully the recommendations will be voted through without a hitch and everything will start to roll forward

The council now have no excuse at all, everyone with half a brain knows the town benefit from having a football team and will only increase with a more successfull one. This can only be achieved with Pools if IOR own the ground.

I'll be bang the drum on the development of the millhouse for the next few weeks so bare with me.
The development of the millhouse is so important to IOR getting the ground we need to really get behind it letters to the mail. lobby your ward councilor do anything you can to highlight how good this development will be for the area and the town.

We as pools fans can make a difference here is the council e-mail address.

Choice words Parmo lets all hope this is the start of moving on clappp clappp

Although the club is trying it’s best to come out of it sadly this drudgery is still there in the background…… everyone needs to be behind this 100%.

I think those who are responsible for the continuation of what seems like generation on generation of negativity……. banghead that seems to without question attach itself to the Town & more importantly the Football Club should be marched to Church Square & Stoned to death

Mr Hodcroft said at the AGM that funding of the ground was due to stop last christmas but with ticket sales being so positive IOR have delayed it till the end of the season.
Owning the ground is paramount to IOR staying as owners IMO and that is why i'm so passionate about the development.

I down loaded and scaned the report it seems very comprehensive and says good things about the impact of the club on the town and area.
Why they include a promotion to the Championship and its effect I dont know. Surely any extra income/publicity that brought could just be seen as a bonus rather than a tangible figure.

The Mill House pub has definately gone from the artist impression of the finished project.
I think the linear buildings replacing that area seem to be business units of some kind.

I think most people would be pretty proud if the council took a lead on developing/regenerating the area with the club as central part.

Anyway give the ground to the club, please council.

rolf

Any miss reading of the report is purely down to laziness.

So from what i can gather from the document it roughly breaksdown as:

Stage 1 is give the ground to pools which would kick start the regeneration without which the whole Mill House Plan would not happen. Gus Robinson propose to build student housing on the surrounding area for the Art College, the odeon would finaly be knocked down and the mill house leisure centre has about 10 years life left. The report also says that the benefit pools brings far outweighs any initial benefit to the council from selling the land. I also take it that the report recognises that by giving IOR the ground, it ties then to the club and in such generates the money and publicity that Hartlepool needs.

So all in the passing (or selling) of the ground to IOR enables the kick start the area needs. By not transferring the ownership the council are left with a dying leisure centre and a football ground that has a value of £600,000+ with a run down area of town still in existance.

This will be voted for by the full council next week and I'll be noting with interest how each councillor votes, especially as this will influence how I vote in the local elections. I hope we all adopt a similar attitude.
Any councillor voting against the proposal will join my ignore and burn in Hell for eternity list.

surely they won't after the recommendations and the publishing of the report's findings? What justification can there be?

They only have 115 members, and I would have thought a good number of them are bunkerites.

They are completely and utterly irrelevant.

I have just been on the high tax site and read right through the seven pages relating to the ground sale.
If it is true that the site is the "voice" for a new political party then anybody considering voting for them has to have a serious word with themselves.
They are a perfect epitomy of the old saying " they know the price of everything and the value of nothing".
Why some people get the sad idea that abusing other people somehow strengthens their argument or makes them look good is beyond me.
Unfortunately there are those amongst us on this site who have to adopt the same tactics.
I thought Mr Fetish was the single example of refusing to rise to the bait of abuse and insult. He is prepared to debate the issue and shows respect to the opposing views. Well done Bob.

MK1 seems one of the worst, I wonder if he is the chap that used to resort to personal abuse on there.

This is his latest offering.

I note that several the members of this other forum have wandered over here but not one HTH regular has bothered to return the favour.
Show what a bunch of thin skinned obsessives they are, compelled to attack anyone they see as opposition. Mob handed of course, individual acts are beyond them.

So a website for Hartlepool people, where people with an interest in the town have joined to debate something is being attacked. He refuses to engage in debate instead focussing on how nasty football fans are.

What I don’t get is their failure to understand that without IOR owning the ground the redevelopment on the Mill House area will not go ahead. An independent review has advised that this is good for the town at a tune of £5millio per year.

Granted IOR will get the ground for nothing and that will anger a few people however without the ground IOR may pull the plug and then this £5million a year to the town will disappear. This redevelopment and added cost to the town as a whole due to Pools / IOR is worth more than as some have said £2million land site or the £18,000.00 a year the get in rent from Pools.

They keep saying that what if IOR goes bust, don’t they realise that Larrsen / IOR are seriously wealthy more so than any other business in the town and no one has mentioned that IOR have put approx £15million into Pools since they bought the club.

I know the majority of the town don’t go to Pools but name me another business that although attracting a minority of the town pumps £5million into the local economy.

Its beggars belief that they don’t want this and smacks of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
