Sounds like he played well for ressies last night, wonder if he might be brought in for the weekend,we lack some pace and he has that in abundance apparently!

Missed nearly a season with hamstring problems I notice - always a danger with these athletic types . Sounds like he may be worth a punt anyway.

We seem to be interested anyway. He's been here a few weeks and played a couple of ressie games. Coops must be seeing something. Have we got an out and out right winger?? Luscombe maybe but he's not impressing at the moment.

Luscombe is all left foot.*

* Yes, I am aware that some of you will argue that he is as much or more belly than left foot, but would such predictable pisstaking actually be either funny or productive?

"Hartlepool United’s Swedish trialist and former Newcastle United player Samuel Adjei scores in 2-0 reserve win over Hull City "

Not a patch on Stevensons' Rocket.

The best one ever was in the Cyril Knowles days that read, "Cox and Nobbs Out" when they were both injured.

I say best one ever, I think it might've happened, and if it didn't then it should've.

Apparently going back from his loan. What a gutter for the lad, must be horrible knowing your contract is out and you can't stay fit.

Looked a decent player, but we can't afford to fill the squad with crocks.

A shame, but ..... you can't really keep a player for cameo appearances. If they're prone to injury and can't stand up to the games demands, we have to face facts. ...... it's a shame, but life's like that. sadx

James brown has had more breaks than Robbie o sullivan yet he is now playing regular. Give the boy a chance. Get him in for next season as no6bus said. Pace to burn and the effort put in was second to nobody on the pitch. A great option to have on the bench. If Sweeney had played him in and he bagged the winner then would you all be saying the same??? Every player tweaks a hamstring, it's no Big deal really. His effort puts boyd n nish to shame. Next season ' sign him up'

given that i have no concept of the problems with hamstrings other than the fact that players like michael owen have had a recurring problem with it but havent done too bad in the game makes me think it may be worth a punt

Surely a 1 year deal is worth the risk?? Having spent a month here playing reserve games it dosnt go 'every time' does it

Larkin boydy and solano would free up wages as you say by showing them the door. Also Collins could well be released.

I compared him to browny because how many people said they would have let him go because he was 'injury prone'. How wrong were they. My point is at such a young age surely he deserves a chance and a 1 year deal. Even a 6 month deal or a pay as you play deal. He lifted the fans with his effort yesterday and personally I'd love to have another look at him

Not sure about the salary cap or how it works to be honest.

I'm with birthmark on this ( there's a first time for everything!)

From what I saw yesterday the guy has got a fair bit about him.
We are never going to be able to afford the finished article as a club, so we need to take punts / risks in signing players.
Sure the club could put together some kind of earn as you play type deal with limited liability with regard to future issues.

concurring with the chipster on this one, we cant afford to sign players with a condition like this already.

not worth the chance.

it all ultimately comes back to the message put out by KH in the programme notes yesterday - clubs should live or die by their assembled squads and not cheat by having players who don't belong to them... such as Alan Smith and the likes. Pools would use the system if it is there to be used, but would support the abolition of the emergency loan window, which was made a mockery of by Wycombe last week. Therefore a tailored contract for an injury-prone player would be right until he proves he is over those injuries. And if he is, he'll get paid cos he's playing!!! And that suits the club, the fans and the player himself!!!

Its not a " tweak" though is it, it's a reccurent problem that has prevented him playing for over 12 months. Sadly as a consequence, every time he tries to use his searing pace, his hamstring goes.

As stated, Brownie was able to have an operation to resolve his problem, I'm not aware of one you can have on hamstrings, though happy to be corrected if there is.

How he played, and whether he scored yesterday is completely and utterly irrelevant. You cant sign a player with a medical condition which will probably prevent him playing professional football again.

Isn't that what they said about djemba ba?

Open question here.

Does anyone who watched the match think the lad maybe tried too hard and shagged himself up?? sctatchinghead

I mean, he's been out a long while and suddenly has a chance to impress??

No your correct, but he failed Medicais at a couple of clubs who probably worked on your logic. He's worth a chance.

He's got injured and has had long spells out through injury to his hamstring but he isn't the first player to do so and certainly won't be the last. It's not like it goes everytime he runs. He has trained for weeks and played for ressies and come through that fine. As has been stated we can't afford to splash out on top player so we need to take a punt on players. To write him off is silly in my opinion.

Maybe we can ask him to just not run quite as fast? sctatchinghead

Seriosuly though, pace is such an asset in this league, O Donovan, James and Adjei have showed exactly how shit scared defenders are of pure pace and it drags their defence about all over the shop. Would have loved to see a defence cope with James, Poole and Adjei running at them.

Adjei got injured stretching for a ball n he probably over stretched, you'd have said he'd shyd out of it tho if he never went for it, just a standard footy lunge to keep posession.

Agreed, I'm told it's a matter of maturity and plenty of young players get the same problem.
