My mrs gets like that. She is a childminder and each time one of the kids has caught head lice or someone at the school has it she is straight round to her mothers to get her hair checked.

Mr Mad the school were way over the top in my opinion, I thought the usual procedure was just to tell the parents and then tell the rest of the parents that there has been head lice within their class

I don't think you can tell other parents unless there have been 3 cases of nits reported in the same class within a certain period of time (i.e. 1 week). Then if more cases occur, the school can call in a nurse to talk to the parents. In some schools a nurse cannot check a childs head for nits without a letter signed by the parents.

An old wives tale Ian. The cleanliness of the hair is irrelevant, the bug is only interested in getting to your blood through your scalp and the hair is only useful to them as a place to attach their eggs to.

Quote:
People with all types of hair get head lice – straight or curly, light or dark, even dirty or clean. These things may make a difference when it comes to detecting head lice but doesn’t make a difference to catching them! source: http://www.headlice.co.uk/treatment/
