I don't think this new arctic monkeys track compares very well with their previous stuff. Album track at best. It sounds unoriginal, lacks melody and the lyrics are pretty uninspired.

If it's their best new material (it must be up there if it's the first single) then the album may well be a real disappointment.

it must have been rushed - can anyone think of a good band that have released their first two albums in such quick sucession?

well I thought the likes of Scummy Man, Ritz To The Rubble and A Certain Romance were amongst the most exciting tracks to come out of british music for a few years. But the new one doesn't capture the imagination half as much, in terms of tune or lyrics.

Aye, totally agree. Played it a fair chunk when it came out and considering the quality of other new bands thought the Monkeys were sound. Havent heard the new stuff so cannt comment. I would compare them with Hard-Fi. The Monkeys have an original sound, pertinant lyrics and are a bit of an energetic laugh. Hard_Fi arent!
