Butterfly effect was one that slipped by me at the time it came out, but i watched it a few years ago and i too thought it was superb. I quite liked the Mist too. There's a good thriller kicking about called 'Kill List' at the moment too.

Nah, seriously, this is the film that got me my radio gig here in China. This week we've moved from 107.4 to 101.3 FM. That means nowt to you, I know, but it's the equivalent of going from Radio 4 to Radio 2, and there's a million more listeners. I can't wait for the Dead Kennedy's era!!

I am having a go of this for the first time.

No idea how to do the pictures but here is my christmas watched list, and ratings:

Source Code 9/10

I thought it was superb.

The adjustment Bureau 8/10

Very Good.

The Inbetweeners 10/10

Marvellous.

The Hangover part II. 7/10

Quite Funny

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part II 9/10

Really good.

Due Date 7/10

Better than I expected......and funnier.

Sherlock Holmes - the second one. 10/10

Loved it. Even better than the first. Marvellous.

There you go, insightful as ever.

Sorry I couldnt tell you about the cinematography, or the actual acting, or even watched something as bastad dull as the Shawshank Redemption........as its the greates fillum of all time etc etc........oh and no foreign films either.......which are usually shit anyway.

Thanks for reading

Went and watched Warhorse with the 3 kids yesterday and everyone of us really enjoyed it, everything you would expect from a Spielberg film really.

The kids range from 7 to 16 and they where all sat glued to it and not saying a word apart from when all the soldiers got wiped out and the youngest said to me ' is it like football dad can they put some subs on'

well worth going to watch and if your not dead hard like me you might need to take a hankie, im sure i heard a bloke behind me bubbling

Re: The Next Three Days, The Experiment

Two more completely unnecessary Hollywood remakes of perfectly good European films, in this case Pour Elle (Anything For Her) and Das Experiment.

The Next Three Days, if watched in isolation with no knowledge of the original, was fine. Russell Crowe can act, though he didn't really pull off the vulnerable, naive, out-of-his-depth character because, well, he's Russell Crowe and we all know that Russell Crowe will pull through at the end of the film. Vincent Lindon's character in the original seemed genuinely shit-scared throughout most of the film and was much more convincing for me. But the remake was fine. A nice solid 7/10

The remake of Das Experiment was just a fooking mess. Forest Whittaker can act, but by christ he can also overact. He was all over the place in this and Adrian Brody wasn't far behind him. A waste of talent, and a pisspoor remake of an excellent film. 3/10

I've been away from filums for a while. I've been away from a lot of things for a while (today was my first away game since October, which is as long a gap as I've had in many years). But I'm going to get back on the horse this year. Mutley can't be expected to carry this thread alone.

PS - Mutley, I might even get around to watching Once.
PPS - Mutley, I quite liked The Mist. Yeah it's hokum, but it's good cheesy popcorn hokum, and the ending ... SPOILER ALERT... was unexpectedly bleak for Hollywood.

it was more the idea of the experiment that i liked more than the film, i had a read about it n it seemed interesting.

I have to pick things that the mrs will like and she's about as smart as a box of frogs, hence us just watching this one..

funny in places like

Don't know if anyone has put a post on here about THE DEVIL'S DOUBLE but i watched it last night and its not a bad film at all

Its basically about Saddam Hussien's son Uday who by the way is a complete and utter loon who makes a soldier be his body double

Its all based on a true story and the fella who plays Uday is class even though he looks and acts like a cross between Freddie Mercury and Kenny Everett.

HERE IT IS....This a couple of weeks ago....

Image

AMAZON REVIEW...."Based on a gripping, unbelievable true story of money, power and opulent decadence, The Devil's Double takes a white-knuckle ride deep into the lawless playground of excess and violence known as Baghdad, 1987.

Summoned from the frontline to Saddam Hussein's palace, Iraqi army lieutenant Latif Yahia (Dominic Cooper) is thrust into the highest echelons of the "royal family" when he’s ordered to become the ‘fiday’ – or body double – to Saddam's son, the notorious "Black Prince" Uday Hussein (also Dominic Cooper), a reckless, sadistic party-boy with a rabid hunger for sex and brutality. With his and his family’s lives at stake, Latif must surrender his former self forever as he learns to walk, talk and act like Uday. But nothing could have prepared him for the horror of the Black Prince’s psychotic, drug-addled life of fast cars, easy women and impulsive violence. With one wrong move costing him his life, Latif forges an intimate bond with Sarrab (Ludivine Sagnier), Uday's seductive mistress who’s haunted by her own secrets. But as war looms with Kuwait and Uday’s depraved gangster regime threatens to destroy them all, Latif realises that escape from the devil‘s den will only come at the highest possible cost."

MY REVIEW....Horrific and chilling and just goes to show how Evil those with Power are....what he done to that Bride on her Wedding Day.... rage....and the School Girl snatched off the street.... rage ....the actor who played Saddam's son AND his Double was superb....9/10!!!! :coool: :coool:
