hes allegedly getting 1200 quid an hour (teletext i read it im telling yer) and is the only celebrity taking any wages/appearance fees for appearing in Comic Relief this year.

what are your thoughts?

surely they can find a better replacement than a 60-70 yr old paddy that is irritating to start with rage

I doubt they could....

I like TW, and the fee doesnt come from the charity, it is from the BBC, and his 'stature' in entertainment will bring in more cash

Yeah but the rich senile twat should surely give it up to charity shouldnt he? I would imagine there are plenty of others who work for the BBC who are doing that on the night.
Shocking given how much money he must have and earn. And goes against the principle of the whole thing.
As you might have guessed, I cant be doing with Terry Wogan and think he should have retired twenty years ago...but if he's making that much money
Cant stand Eurovision, cant stand his voice on the radio either.

Wogan is a tit head and maybe he shouldn't be getting paid BUT if the fee isn't coming from the charity budget then what is the problem?

PS - Is it a rug on his head?

Sigh..... this was expained on Radio 4. He gets paid his contract money and any work he does is covered by that. So it's not a case of getting paid to do that, as there is no payment as such. Also, if he were to return his so called fee, he wouldn't be doing it for nothing, he'd actually be paying to do it.
I'll give you an analogy, if you were the caretaker opening up a school for a charity do and the others complained that you were getting paid even though it's your job and demanded that you donate your pay for the event to the charity, the caretaker would actually be the loser.

Why am I defending Terry Wogan...

actually if a caretaker opens and closes a school for a "out of hours" activity including a charity function he is entitled to a "lettings" fee over and above his wages so he could waive his fee and be no worse off
ps 16 years previously working as a caretaker so i am in a position to comment
