At 2am we got a pnone call this morning from the wifes mother........in her 70's. She and her husband, also in his 70's are looking after an old dear from next door, in her mid 80's.

Anyway, she wanted to take this 85 year old to see a doctor as she was feeling unwell.........very unwell for here age. She asked my wife if she should take her to the One life centre.

Even though my wife is a nurse, she is as unsure as anyone as to when you should or shouldnt use that godawful place.

Anyway at 2:30am this morning they took her.

When they got there the doors were locked................its meant to be open by the way.

They banged on the door and were told by 2 nurses to go away..........as there was no doctor on duty and they were there only to see people with minor injuries.

They didnt get seen, and returned home.

The old dear is still ill, but these nurses will be pleased to know she didnt drop dead during the night.

What a fuck awful attitude that place has. And who the fuck is going to turn up there at 2:30 am with a minor injury.

Health care in Hartlepool is fucked.

If you want health care you best have enough cash on you to get to North Tees,the people of Hartlepool have been badly let down.

Ask Drummond and his acolytes and its fit for purpose.

Darlington has an A&E, the Memorial Hospital, as does Stockton (North Tees), and Boro (James Cook), our problem in Hartlepool is our location. Because we are a seperate borough (through no fault of our own) our population is regarded less than that of Stockton borough which incorporates the populus of Yarm, Billingham and Thornaby taking it above 190k.
The bigwigs have then classed us as the smallest town of that group (which is untrue) and used us as sacraficial lambs.(and with Labour in charge I might add)...... the gormless feckers.

Its incredible. It really is.

The one thing that will change it though, is:

Everyone thats needs A & E or even has a minor injury, goes to North Tees A & E. They will soon get sick of us all, and will demand the reopening of OUR hospital.

Do not use the one life centre........its a bloody joke.

dont think he did anything to try prevent it,obviously the 90000+ ppl in the town dont deserve a hospital.

Its sickening, really is. We should have a major national insurance deduction to account for the fact that if we have a bad accident, we are more likely to pop our clogs as a result of having to travel to North tees.

Our lass had to go to Hpool hospital the other day with a mate, who is quite poorly, for a consultation. The doctor actually said to her face that it was pointless them being referred here because its "rubbish compared to North Tees".

A very sorry and disgraceful state of affairs.

Our NHS is fooked...... everything about this country is fooked.....

If you dont believe me try moving to America and have the misfortune of suffering a serious illness, then shitting yourself not because of your ilness but the fact you might lose your house paying medical bills.

ALL the politicians in this town are to blame for not fighting to get funding to keep the hospital open. Every single one of them, including Drummond, who is now part of the "game" they all play, like it or not. There are one or two public figures finally speaking out about this, but far too late

*awaits claptrap about MRSA and outdated facilities etc, which could have been avoided by modernisation/ maintenance in the same way the other hospitals have been*

A few years ago all a lot of SD's mates used to rally round and defend him on here - saying he was a nice lad and had a tough job and blah blah blah. These days they stay quiet because it is obvious to ALL that he has been pretty Fukking useless. When people voted him in the first time (including me) they voted for the monkey - it was a protest vote against the system not for Stu Drummond. It was obvious in his first few years that he was going to be useless - a decade later and he still is useless.

Like Mr Parmo says he is part of the game - he has become a part of the system that he was supposed to be against. The town has gone backwards....

Remember the Hartlepool Hospital serves East Durham as well therefore 140,000 people not just 90,000 from Hartlepool.

Drummond just stood by and let it happen.

Drummond was doomed to failure from the start, said he wasnt interested in politics only representing the people of Hartlepool, very honourable but naive and misguided, politics is everything , jobs,shopping centre , transport, libraries, hospitals, etc etc,. Hartlepool needed a political animal to lead it not someone like SD.

as long as we are stuck with an elected mayor we will have someone who does not get the backing of councillors and as such cannot make a change on their own

When Iain Wright first stood for Parliament one of his big "vote for me" promises was that the hospital would not close as long as he was MP for Hartlepool. Once the hospital closes I expect him to resign & not blame anybody & everybody but himself & the Labour Party for allowing this to happen !!!!!

I'd rather have an elected Mayor who was as thick as that fat peter owens bloke than the town be controlled by the Labour group.

this has always been a major problem in this town. The ambition to get onto committees and milk expenses, get backhanders etc has always been the most important aspect to any Hartlepool councillor
