It was Chuck Berry 'Johnny B Goode' on account of the line "That little BLACK boy" which was changed to 'country boy' to make it radio friendly.Cant remember where I heard this but I did hear it somewhere.

It used to be that anything involving Death was banned by the Beeb, hence Tell Laura I Love Her.

Apparently the Lonnie Donegan song "Digging my potatoes" was banned in 1956!

I love the net....

Oh, and Lola was banned apparently because it contained Coca Cola, not to do with transvestism! stupid

Does anyone know anything about the 'wet dream' song from the 60s or 70s? I've heard it once, apparently it was banned but still got to number one in the charts?

can't see death being an issue, wasnt it Bobby Goldsboro who sang that sickly song about 'missing honey' in the 60's

It certainly didn't get to Number One though. Number 9 I think.

The first records I can recall that the Beeb "Skipped Over" in the Top 20 were "Big Six" by Judge Dread and "Love To Love You Baby" by Donna Summer.

'Cardiac Arrest' by Madness was banned by Radio 1!!!!

I'll have you know I'm a respectable married man.

Maybe Max Romeo was asking the lady in question for assistance in erecting the Acro's needed to support the roof while he replaced some rotting joists??

'Ask Elvis' is a great feature on Steve Wright's radio 2 show.
