it's a load of utter bollox ..... logically, the team whose manager wins it is by it's very nature the most successful team, the team which everyone wants to beat and the team which mathematically is due to lose or draw after a winning streak. The only negativity is from fans who pass it on to the players on the pitch.....So there!!!

IF ...HEAVEN FORBID... we were to draw or lose on Saturday, I'd blame a few things, but not the Mananger of the Month award.

From memory, after Newell's January win didn't we do pretty well the following month and in theory he could have won it for a second month in a row? It went to Bournemouth who had a point more or something but had played two more games. It was in March and April that it all fell apart, a full month or more after he won the award....

And when Newell won it he dismissed the curse with scorn.

Despite what anyone feels about Newell one thing for sure is he's not dumb. He was quick to say that instances of teams extending successful five game runs to six, seven, or eight games are rare and that's the secret of the so called-curse.

And I'll tell you what: instances of teams extending successful 18 game runs to 19 are even rarer.
