Same here after GCSE results day think 1996, me mampi and other mate went there and got hammered, we went home got changed were my mate proceeded to tell his mam "I am blotto, I have seen a girl I like from school and going to shag her".

We went back out to the sports bar a new women was serving think it was the land lady, asked me for ID, I said I had forgotten it. The other barmaid said I had been in earlier and so got served again. Tried walking to church street to the wonkey donkey and fell on my face went home and my dad kept me up all night drinking coffee.

Bar of the Staincliffe (called the Chapel Bar?) 1976, four pints (all different, beer, lager, guinness, cider), utterly blaked. My mate pressed the emergency open door button on the bus back and nearly went flying into Stockton Road. I fell through a hawthorn hedge a bit later on and cut meself to ribbons.

Didn't put me off though.......

3 or 4 pints of Strongarm in the Nursery back room when I was 14 (1978) at a mate's mam & dad's wedding anniversary. I went fishing at the middleton pier next morning and spewed all over it. Happy days.

The Grange Hotel in 1971 directly after a mid week game. When I tried to buy a second pint I was asked to leave after all I was only 13.

I was drinking regularly by then as my dad was the licensee of the Mason's Arms in Haswell for a year so I was used to having a pint but never got plastered.

I was in the Catholic Club regularly on a Sunday lunch time by the time I was 16 but for a few year after that drinking has lost it's attraction.

That's funny from someone who got his change in pounds, shillings and pence the last time you got any change from a round.

ha ha what a great thread.

To be honest i'm not 100% certain when I drank my first pint which I actually bought for myself, but i think it must of been at my sisters 18th birthday party in 1998 at seaton cricket club. That would of made me 15 at the time, me and my mates were absolutely smashed and I ended up walking into a wall and smashing my "cool as fcuk" chris evans glasses to smitherines. Started wearing contacts soon after that.

Ditto - I think it cost me about £1.30. I'd had the odd bottle in other places like Rileys but never went to the bar myself as I looked my age shall we say. Sports Bar was quality for the france 98 world cup, the emporium was also class in those days...!

The Old Dungeon Ghyll in the Great Langdale was mine with a few of the lads on a school camp, 1985, we where different shades of 14 and drank a few real ales before finishing with a Weston's Old Rosie cider about 8%. We were tw@tted. The bar man spent the evening pissing himself laughing at us trying to sound and look 18, the landlord also ran the campsite and bollocked our teachers for not controlling their pupils. He then charged us extra for camping saying that if we got served in his pub we must be over 18 so needed to pay the over 18 rate. We got knacked but it was well worth it.
