The magazine printed a preview at the start of the season for League One, which made predictions for where it thought teams were going to finish.

At the bottom of the page, it said:

24. Hartlepool United

Oh, how stupid FourFourTwo are being made to look by 'Pools now!

Well done lads!!! rolf

Im sure 442 magazines staff are feeling ashamed and losing much sleep over their actions.

Serves them right.

Everyone had boro to win the league, and on paper there still the best team in the league, just a bunch of fuckwits.

I fancied them to go up, the money they'd spent, the manager they had.

I thought the players they signed from scotland would actually do well in the champ, but instead they've just showed how bad that league is up there.

Christ samaras got 2 today, he was awful at city.

They'd probably been reading this board to come to that conclusion.

Before the Rochdale game there wasn't many of us who had a lot of enthusiasm. I also remember a lot of away die hards saying that they were going to give the Dale match a miss. I don't think anyone could of predicted the positive influence Wadsworth was to have going by our pre season either - getting stuffed by Leeds and Garforth Town I believe?... There's still a long long way to go this season but so far so good... L:ets hope we are all still laughing at predictions in May when we are preparing for a play off semi final...!

The most optimistic on here would have had Pools finishing 20th and being 4 pts clear of 21st with 1 game going, before a ball was being kicked.

Not only has MW and this team surprised the so called experts, they've surprised 99% of tthe fans. Long may it continue.

POK, not only have Pools made fourFourTwo look stupid, but also most Pools fans. Remember, most fans thought we'd struggle. Although we'll forgive them on this one

to be fair Kev - the manager in charge at the start of the season publicly stated he was worried about the forthcoming season. If that's the bloke in charge then you have no chance and if he had stayed we would have been bottom no thanks to him.
Now he's gone and we have a bloke in charge who transmits positivity to the players and gives them belief - which in turn gives the fans belief.
It's like a whole new club, and every player is like a new signing

Four Four Two is just another Premiership Scud mag with lots of lovely glossy action snaps of the top players and the abstract thoughts of abstract managers. The journo's are Premiership fundamentalists can just about recognise big clubs in the Chumpionship, but once it goes any further down the league structure it gets the sports journalists version of the bends and resorts to hackneyed steretotypes.... God knows why anyone would buy it.

They actually do some decent non premiership stuff, there was a brilliant article on the mk dons manager a couple of editions back.

Someone bought me a 6 month subscription for my last birthday.

Wasn't a bad read, good stuff on the foreign leagues too.

Each to there own snowy.

Yeah, seems Robins fans as are fickle as some Poolies. Play-offs last season on next to no budget. Has had to see his two top strikers leave in consecutive seasons.Wtf do they expect. stpid stpid

Despite a small squad they still put 4 past Charlton, away from home earlier this week.

They're lucky to have him. We've gone backwards since he left.

Hopefully, with Mick, we're on the up but I hope he gets better treatment than we gave Wilson.

Yubep- we've missed relegation by a whisker several times since Wilson went. Only since Mick has come in have we begun to see any sustained improvement on the pitch.

We've also lost several key back-room staff , a considerable amount of income in attendances & sponsorship & the club 's financial turnover is heading steadily downwards.

Yes, economic times, blah blah, play a part but this club was about incremental improvement at one point.

We seem to have lost that momentum & it'll take some building back up.

Wilson had his faults & made mistakes as we all know but his track record albeit mixed is still far better than virtually any other manager in the lower leagues.

Swindon shouldn't repeat our mistake. They should hang on to Wilson & try & rebuild their club after it's recent financial difficulties.

Wilson was dogshit (in this division) and it was a good day when he was given the push.

Just because Turner didn't make a good job of things doesn't suddenly make Wilson into a good manager.

Poor effort by 442 , I myself had Man city , Hull , Southampton, Oxford to win their respective divisions. Still think Pools will end up just above the bottom four. Pre season I thought 5th bottom would be as high as we could finish. Lots of games to come in quick succession, small squad with no money to spend ,injuries to key players, suspensions could derail us.
