No home Saturday game since mid November.
It really is unbelievable.

I expected a half decent crowd today but getting near the ground it was like a ghost town. I dont understand it and like was said above, we dont deserve a league club. A lot of people in the town need a kick in the nuts.

You cant get much more entertaining than recent games yet still the attendances are shameful.

As I've said previous what do you have to do to get them to turn up, the Mail should have a front page tomorrow stating "Where are you all hiding?", a town with 40k armchair fans f.f.s.....get behind the team they're playing well.

Sadly, the fatties in the pubs, and their offspring, are too fkin busy worrying about the fate of Woy Hodgson or Sir Alex's latest hissy-fit to realise their hometown even has a farking football team! rage

I heard a thousand and one excuses as to why people wouldn't attend 'while he was still in charge' etc etc

I accept money is tight for some but what are the reasons in the pubs/clubs etc as to why the missing 2,000 no longer go sctatchinghead

They'll all be rushing in when we beat Watford and draw a prem team in the cup. It's all about branding, in football as well as clothing, gadgets .....
Sad fact of life. They don't know what excitement they're missing on their doorsteps the inward looking fucks.
Maybe we need to take a full page ad in the mail.

If Pools can maintain the current league placing or dare I say even improve it then I would expect to be back to 4500 home fans by the start of february. Results like today's will hopefully make people sit up and take notice and the soft arses who can't cope with the cold should also come out of the woodwork...

people saying they cant afford it is horseshit. we havent played at home for ages. these people who reckon they cant afford it will have spent shedloads on xmas, and probably went out on the lash last night and all.

i'm on the dole for christ sakes and i went to huddersfield, i went today, and i'm going monday. thats cos i budget and i make sacrifices. i looked after a friends kids last night for instance in return for a ticket for todays game. so while some may say i'm a bit sad for playing jacks twos and eights with a 9 year old on new years eve, at least it meant i got to the game today. im certainly not as sad as :

those who didnt go cos they were hungover. presumably have to get shitfaced so they are still able to celebrate pissing another year of their lives up the wall while achieveing nish.

those born and bred hartlepudlians who went to the stadium of light today. they should just be shot.

the bounder i saw in asda after the game today strutting about in his liverpool top, like the cat that got the fking cream. words fail me with fkers like him.

Best post of the year so far.

MadJohn has got it spot on. If we continue as we have done people will eventually come back. Besides which, people already HAVE come back. I've been away over new year but a few people I've spoken to today, plus Chip's comments on here, have said the crowd looked as if it was over 4000.

I can more or less guarantee that if Pools finish the season strongly and somehow get into the playoffs the home crowd's will be much higher next season as more people will take up season ticket offers. You can hardly blame people for not wanting to at the start of this season. We had a manager in charge who had been utterly useless for the past two season's and was more or less saying that we'd go down.

Regarding the glory hunters I would happily have them back. You can't have your cake and eat it as they say.

Exactly. There isn't a club in the land whose attendance doesn't vary with results and/or optimism.

Well said Mr Chip.
There are three of us in our house............all season ticket holders. None of us were born in Hartlepool but me Mam and Dad were and that's enough. We make a two hundred mile round trip to every home game.
Oh yes we can afford it because in 2010 we went to the pub very rarely and we gave up other treats so we could follow Pools.
Like Chip I don't accept the bullshit given as reasons not to attend. Make sacrifices and it's surprising how many games you can attend.
Where there's a will there's a way. Ok...maybe not every game if you are on the bones of your arse but it seems to me that the cost is used more as an excuse than ever before.................is that because MW and the lads have eliminated all the other excuses ????????????
Come on..........off your arses........what Pools are serving up at the moment is worth every penny.

As i have said on numerous ocassions people will find any excuse not to go to the Vic. According to a mate he has spoke to a couple of people whose reasons for not attending yesterday was because there were no buses running. Fact is the Vic can be got to with a brisk walk from most parts of the town within a hour I would say. now if they out of town supporters fair enough but if in town, that really is finding any excuse not to go.And no buses and walking actually makes the day cheaper.

I agree with most of what Chip says but I think you underestimate the effect of people losing their jobs. Some people really do have to live on 60 odd quid a week and to pull out £18 to go to a football match is beyond difficult.

Totally agree i would never have a go against anyone who doesn't have the disposable income to attend games. There are many more important things in life when you are living almost a day to day existence.

At this time of the year it would be good PR from Pools if they offered cheaper tickets to the unemployed,(even one game) tickets purchased prior to the game and only on evidence of being unemployed.

I genuinely feel for the people who have lost their jobs and obviously feeding your family comes before going to footy matches.
I am not having a go at those people but I can't believe that the missing two thousand or so are ALL in that category.
It's not that long ago when a Xmastime home match with Oldham attracted 6500 fans. Have the 3000 differential all suddenly become unemployed?????????

A good fooking kicking would be a start. Seen LOADS of pretendy Mags decked out in their replica shirts today, going to watch 'their' team in the boozer. I can't actually think of anything that makes me angrier.

agree with Mr Bandage completely.
There's a bloke in the Jacksons who's a bit terrified of me after my last drunken rant about this when I was in there - even though he's bigger than me it's the look of pure hatred in my eyes that must frighten him

I read today that the man u fans yesterday were singing I wish it could be hillsborough everyday. This made me loathe them cun-ts even more than I do already.

Erm, my match attendance this season has been hit by lack of spare cash, and I've cut down my boozing too.... Tuesday night games don't help my cause either.
Staying away for whatever reason other than financial is petty and pathetic.
