really enjoyed today's game, perhaps more so with a few pints and a carvery down my neck.

they started off very lively and it was no great suprise when they took the lead. wadsworth seemed to work his magic and his tweaks made all the difference. very very impressive team performance, and like others have said it would be difficult to pick out a MOM. The word that struck me was 'control'. We looked in control even when they were pressing, we never panicked and we always had an out ball. We seemed confident enough to let them come on to us, and we always looked dangerous when we broke. Result never in doubt.

Kean 8 : Quieter game for him despite some decent Oldham opposition. Might have got to the second goal, but all round presence is superb.
Austin 7 : Steady away after a slightly unsure start. Looks a class act on the ball and offered plenty of prompting going forward
Collins 5 : Started well enough before being substituted a knee ligament problem. Looked gutted watching from the box.
Hartley 8 : Looked a genuine centre back. Immaculate heading, and much improved positioning. Was a major reason we got three points today.
Horwood 8 : Again supremely comfortable throughout. Great to have a proper left back at the club. Distribution down the left was superb.
Murray 8 : Did what he does. Gave the ball away once in a dodgy area, but his range of passing to either slow things down or get us going is a joy to watch.
Liddle 7 : Very good shift in the middle. Closed them down well and competed superbly in a physical midfield battle.
McSweeney 8.5 : Never been a huge fan, but you can see he's benefiting from games and from an astute coach. Seemed to relish the physical side and through himself into tackles and headers. Lovely header to set up Humps goal, and he worked tirelessly throughout.
Sweeney 8: Integral cog in the team. The gaffer has got him putting his great engine to good use. One minute breaking up opposition attacks in midfield, the next he's our furthest player forward. Very impressive, and deserved his goal
Brown 8 : Played as a creative midfielder, and linked up play well without really threatening on goal himself. Laid Sweeeney's goal on a plate beautifully, and lasted the 90 which was a great sign.
Humphreys 8: Excellent game up top, and when they changed it, in midfield. Held the ball up well, and competed despite getting the shit kicked out of him. Thoroughly desreved his goal after a great move.

Subs Haslam 8.5 : Who honestly was comfortable with him dropping into centre back ? We were wrong. He used all his experience to turn in a great great performance alongside hartley. What a great player to have in the squad !! Won more than he should have done in the airn and just snuffed danger out by reading the game. well done mate.
Larkin 7.5 A good shift from the much maligned player. Held the ball up to waste some time and harried their right back into several mistakes. used his pace to stretch them out and kill the game off.
Bjornsson 6 ; Won a couple of headers, lost a couple of headers but added a bit of height when they were pressing for another one.

All ina ll a very good result againsta more than useful Oldham side. Was only diappointed that we couldn't get Gerry Taggart to tuen round more often by chanting 'Taggart'!!

Your rating give a clue to what Wadsworth has achieved - no starts the team is greater than an individual. How as Jones today as I was not a great fan and thought he was too self confident.

The key is Collins fitness - as stupid as it sounds if he is left out at Notts County and maybe Watford will his knee heal and last the season?

Great ratings Aido. Pretty much spot on especially about Haslam. He was immense.
first twenty minutes or so I thought we were going to get beat today especially when Collins went off but we seemed to get stronger.
Tonight I am absolutely delighted.

I agree with this. Again I've come away from a game having watched some great performances, making it impossible to single out just one player.

A really good result against a rough side that were allowed to get away with being at times overly physical. Onwards and Upwards...!

Just seen the goals on BBC iPlayer. McSweeney did very well to nod the ball into Humphrey's direction for the third goal. He's come on in leaps and bounds this season. Another player who I thought was out of his depth but now looks well at home in League 1.

Well done Leon. Well done Mick Wadsworth. Well done Pools clappp
