We're genuinely in the promotion race now. For no apparent reason I've just had a look where we are, taking all the contenders games in hand into consideration. For the purposes of no good reason I've assumed that maximum points are taken by everyone - yes I know theres probably a game or two between the contenders but forget that for a second this is pretty academic...

This is how it looked..

The very fact that we are talking about the P word at all shows how much progress has been made this season on the field.

If anyone had said at the start of the season that we'd be in the playoff picture at Christmas they'd have been sectioned.

For the purpose of no other reason I prefer this table........

1 Brighton 42
2 Oldham 38
3 Colchester 36
4 Pools 35
5Charlton 35
6 Southampton 34
7 Sheff Wed 33
8 BMouth 33
9 HField 34
10 Exeter 32

Other than I'm having us beat Charlton and therefore the 3 points from that game meaning we swap positions with them. clappp

had edit that as was giving us an extra 3 points for the Charlton game the 3 MR I give us for winning and 3 more instead just taking 3 off Charlton, so your right I did get carried away , thought I had edited it in time....

Should the unexpected happen and The North East's Big Three next season was Barcodes, Mackems and Pools (Borer relegated), would we actually get a mention on Tyne Tees News, unlike now??????

On paper some easy games coming up, if only football was that simple though! We are punching above our weight and it feels good but I feel we are just an injury to Murray , Collins, or Brown or Kean being recalled, away from a slide down the table. Would be amazed if we are top 8 come easter.

@ronaldo: The corollary being we are just one inspired signing (loan or otherwise) away from a top six finish.

I've heard Joel Porter is coming back for one last attempt to get us up to the Championship.

There really is no need for the doom and gloom at this stage - once our run of good form is over (which hopefully will be never) there will be plenty of time to be a miserable twat...! We are Pools and at the moment we will take on anyone...! Onwards and Upwards..!

it's a long long time since Pools consistently produced so many good results - 4 consecutive 1-0 away wins is no fluke and the last 3 have been at grounds where it's notoriously difficult to get anything, never mind clean sheets and 3 points.
I have supreme confidence in the team and MW, and I doubt one or two injuries are gonna make much difference the way the squad is performing. If Boyd can get his act together we'll have another very good player waiting to come in when needed, and I also think offloading one or two such as MacKay and making way for one good loan forward will see the team be at least play off contenders.
Thoughts of relegation and slides down the league were ever present with a lump of lard like Turner in charge, but my mind has never been in doubt now for some months that MW will steer us well clear of those choppy waters

PS it feels great to follow HUFC for the first time in a long time. Negativity went when Mr Negative drummed himself out of our club
