I once had a battered old Sierra that suffered the same fate.
The next day it was parked outside our house waiting to be scrapped when someone crashed into it, hurrah £500 from their insurance company!
..........hope yours is fixable. Let us know what happens

The favourite one years ago used to be known as 'dipping the headlights' it consisted of the car being pushed into the docks where the marina now stands. The headlights thus being well and truly dipped.

If I did it they'd sit on the bottom of the dock shining away for weeks...

My car went in for a service yesterday, I was told it would be £129 then extra for parts. They te=hen phoned the mrs to say that the frnt and rear brakes were absolutely knackered and needed replacing. This pushed the bill up to close to £600  and that was with my 15% discount, out of the goodness of their hearts they gave me 25% discount off the brakes because they had plenty in stock. But still it was £150 labour charge just for the brakes

Most garages are rip off merchants. I have avoided main dealers for a long time now. Use D&R Motors in Billingham, on the Cowpen Bewley Estate, probably for over 20 years now, for all my cars. The owner is Tommy Donnelly, the Chairman of Billingham Town. Being a non techie with regard to virtually anything, I always feel I can trust them not to be having my eyes out whenever I need to take my latest heap of junk in for resuscitation.

Only in as much as we both need to run cars, but can't afford to spend a lot on doing it. :uhoh:

If the head gasket is gone then it needs replacing. No amount of pouring gunge in the thing will do anything but a temporary repair. It will let you down again and again until its repaired properly.

It's like that slick 50, marketing over reality.
