Well, he doesn't seem to have the powers of persuasion Blair had when we were bidding for the Olympics.

Very true young man.

Compared to Russian and Qatar stadiums the Darlington Echo area can be described as a vibrant atmosphere

Taken from the BBC, just wonder why the commitee members change their mind mmmm?

Anson suggested executive committee members went back on their word by voting for England's rivals.

"I still find it hard to understand what happened," he told a media conference in Zurich on Friday morning.

"I'm not going to beat around the bush. Individual members promised to vote for us and didn't clearly.

"Russia did a lot of last-minute lobbying and votes appeared to switch at the last minute - we know some switched in the early hours of the morning."

If you have bee to a lot of stadiums in the uk, which you probably haven't Ripper you wouldn't be being so silly. Boro, Sunderland, Stoke and Southampton basically have the same stadium. As do Leics City, Coventry and Derby. If you compare places like old trafford to the stadium in Madrid or Barcelona - or if you had been to all 3 like I have you would know that the ones in Spain are far far superior....

Totally agree worst stadium I have ever been to is MK Dons, I honestly drove past it as it looks half finished and is soulless inside another one that ranks high on the souless scale is the Deva Stadium Chester.

The only one in the Premiership I can think of with a bit of character is craven cottage.

Character and atmosphere are two completely different things. I've been to more than plenty of stadiums in England and most are more than capable of creating a good atmosphere.

The two that have the best atmosphere for me are Stoke and Sunderland. Both of them are new build meccano stadia.

When they first announced stadium:MK was being lined up as a bid venue, I laughed.

No doubt it's a great stadium, but World Cup games, I couldn't envisage it.

It will have been selected because of the commute between MK and London is a fairly simple one

boycott-wtf.

Why shouldn't Russia be in with a shout of hosting the World Cup.
Abt 150m people live there. They've got several large & smaller cities with over 1/2m people in each & a lonmg footballing history.

Yeah, its bloody massive but a fair bit of the population are in the West of the Country. As I understand their bid involves most of the games being in the European part of Russia so mainly contained in 2 time zones. Less than the case with the US when they hosted.

If you haven't been & can scrape the cash I would suggest visiting Moscow & St Petersburg at anytime. Amazing places. Some of the other cities are a bit bleak & utilitarian but we've got a few of those ourselves.
Trains/planes & roads aren't too bad & a lot less crowded than some of the crap we put up with.

Unlike Chip & Co I could give a fck about a World Cup in Russia- it's an incredible place & I'll try & go but Qatar!!!!- A political decision if there ever was one.
Stinking rich little country & set to get richer as oil & gas get more expensive.

Given their main industries I'm surprised Uncle Ken doesn't have a penthouse suite there.

No reason why they shouldn't if they had played it straight. Trouble is that $1m into the bank accounts of each of the committee is how they've got it.

The issue is not Russia or Qatar, its the corrupt regime that runs world football.

I actually find this hilarious.

England led the world in buying into "money football", and now the daft twats (you may well be one of them if you watch pub footie) are complaining about football being influenced by money?

You get what you pay for. lmao

One of these days it's going to sink in that England are shite: playing-wise, organising-wise (although arrogance-wise we still take some beating!).

I dont get this arrogance bit. English football fans are classed as arrogant becuase they alsways think their team will win. Isnt that what footy fans are supposed to be like?

There is a report in Australia claiming Qatar and Russia knew on wednesday that they had won. So it had nothing to do with presentations and ability to host. It was about something else.
