Watched this last night and I have to admit that I always thought It would be nice to have the World Cup in the country. However, after watching the programme, I couldn't give a toss.
For anyone watching the programme, the committee table told me all I wanted to know, it was like something off a Bond film.... they're a football committee ffs.

a world cup in this country would be great, but at what price ?

having to jump through the hoops that FIFA create to bolster its own image and in the above cases, backpockets, would remove most of the gloss for me.

i've had to laugh at the handwringers calling radio phone-ins and bleating that panorama should have delayed showing the programme until after 2018 was allocated in case it affected our bid. ffs, do they not see the irony ? for god's sake don't expose corruption in case it affects us ??!! banghead

fook FIFA and fook yer world cup.

Agreed, they can stick the World cup where the sun dont shine. England should never bid for it again.

Let the Russians have it. It'll be marvellous.

That show simply exposed how corrupt them bastards are.

Don't see how you can compete with Putin in a corruption friendly contest. I would think you'd become extremely adept at the persuasive arts making your money in the newly privatised, mafia infested Russian/Ukrainian gas industry.

I can see Salty's point, corruption in FIFA isn't exactly fresh news but I can't quite believe the way that almost any volume of evidence is ignored by the politicians who are so desperate to get the World Cup. Why is Cameron even prepared to be seen speaking to the likes of Walker? He'd be the first to moan if poor segregation lead to bother involving England fans but he's arranging to meet the chief tout.

England should lead a campaign to boycott future bids until FIFA is forced to open its books by legal action. We'd have to see the resignation of Blatter and a few others before that would happen- the evidence of bribes in that ISL document was pretty conclusive and looked to involve the top officials.

Just because they've been at it for years doesn't make it alright.

FIFA is the same as the Olympic committee bent as anything, they all fly round the world for nothing getting free hand outs that the people giving these thing will help their company be an olympic sponser.

Get on the FIFA or Olympic board and your set for life.

Talk Sport had a good point yesterday if England pulled out of FIFA potentially the other major countries would follow, sort of like the Darts. We should recognise that we should get a fair crack of the wip from the world governing body of football (which we all know we dont) as English game and fans bring the most money into it.

Would this be possible could the FA be ran without UEFA / FIFA?

A bit of over the top hospitality is one thing but Warner made a million dollars from touting and the evidence seemed to suggest that Havelange had pocketed six and a half million just from ISL. Set for several lives the greedy tossers.

I think that refusing to be governed by EUFA/FIFA would lead to anyone who worked in English football being banned from all other football for life. It would effectively be the end of the premier league as an internationally marketed product. Nice thought, but the FA/Premier league won't be voting to do that. I don't suppose they'll lead a boycott of future bids either but I think they could do that without triggering bans etc.

Everyone knows we have the best stadiums, low levels of racism in the game and not a problem with mobs / gangs (unlike Russia), so it must be another reason we arnt getting it, or why in the 80's we got banned from Europe???

Also look at this lovely article about the next host country Brazil, they get it because FIFA bums "the so-called beautiful game" and Pele.

The crossing of palms with silver is nothing new.
Nor is the concept of you kiss my arse and I'll kiss yours.
People promise things to get what they want. The modern word for that is Cleggism

Maybe the BBC and the general media are simply pointing out the methods normally used to sway people into following your line of thought.

It happens every day in all walks of life. Surely no one thinks that the members of Fifa's committee are different and are holier than thou merchants..............cos they're not.

If we get the World Cup....fine. If we don't.........fine.
I won't lose sleep either way.

I wish these were the methods "normally used to sway people", I could do with an extra 6.5 million in the run up to Christmas. And if FIFA aren't holier than thou merchants who is? According to them they are non-profit making organisation that puts surplus funds into football development.

If they were in a cut throat industry where bribes were the norm I could see your point but they aren't. They've got a monopoly and they're milking it and then siphoning off the proceeds while claiming to be guardians of the game.

Being nothing new doesn't make it alright either- if somebody caught their best mate shagging their wife and they said," We've been at it twice a week for years" he wouldn't just go, "Oh well, thats the way of the world, carry on you two." Would he?

Thanks for your good wishes Derwent, I thought I was the only one who knew about the infidelity. How did you know I meant her?

Hang on a minute, do you ever get over to France, do you wear a red thong and have you got a nasty carving fork wound to your right buttock? rage

After watching the assorted politicians and celebs turn up at the Royal Court of FIFA to humbly plead their cases, I expect a late winning bid from the Republic of Arslikhan.

Here is a top quality blazer for you Snowy- Mr Chuck Blazer, CONCANCAF delegate for FIFA-

http://chuckblazer.blogspot.com/

If you scroll back a bit you even get him sponging free Mackem shirts at the Stadium of shyte, meeting the Charltons and trying to set up a threesome involving his beard, the deeply evil Karen Brady and Mrs Blazer.

It is one of the venues included in the USA bid for 2022, if you want it to happen just send cash, postal orders or blank cheques to-

beardyfatlunatic,
c/o How much for the world cup?
FIFA
Switzerland

If there isn't enough 'encouragement' they might consider a joint bid from the members of ZZ Top.
