Nothing wrong with wanting to further your education and when should it only be the rich that gets to do it.

Obviously someone who never has or wished to go to uni then? Your comments are so stereotypcial....yes i agree that a big majority of students only go because they don't know what to do and don't want to work but stats have shown these drop out after the first year because they don't want to do that either......nothing wrong with wanting to further your skills although at the moment it seems pointless due to the job situation

You say they don't want to work for a living.....ever thought they have a plan...have researched about jobs they wish to do and HAVE to get further education to be able to get the chance of their ideal job....don't group all students together because of the stereotypes that you associate with them

Its like saying all immigrants are sponging, work shy and only come over here for a easy time. stpid

Yeah tell that to the poles and asian communities that work their arses off in jobs that people in the UK wont do.

I think that most of the respondents on this thread have missed the point of the students out causing chew again today and not actually studying.

Smashing up police vans, where does that come on the syllabus then?

These idle arseholes need a bit of time in Colchester MCTC. That should sort them out.

When I was young I had some mates who were done for flipping over a patrol car, there were two coppers in it. No teaching needed for the flipping side of things, simple common sense, but somebody should have told them about the increased prison time for doing a full one. It should have been done as part of RE instead of spliff building. I blame the teachers.

I blame Tony Blair for daring to get university education for more than the seven per cent that used to get it.
Downright cheek I say. He obviously didn't know about the great scheme of things where the massed ranks of people who didn't go to university fulfilled other roles like cannon fodder.
If only people would know their place eh!!!!!!!!!

what gets me going is these psedo-revolutionaries claiming that peaceful demonstrations get ignored, so according to the silly tart from the university of london student union the violence of a fortnight ago and from today is justified.

the blanket generalisation is that all fees are being increased, which is blatantly false. 25% of students will be better off once they've graduated under the new scheme

i wonder how many of the kids who walked out of school to join the demos around the country actually knew all the details of what's being proposed for fees, and how many of them actually fancied a day off and a crack at the plod ?

at least when i was a soapdodger our protests were against really heinous legislation, like clause 28.

and don't even get me started om that bearded damned bounder who chucked a fire extinguisher of tory central.

Peaceful demonstrations do get ignored. As Malcolm X, a proper revolutionary in anybody's book, said: "The only thing that power respects is power."

He also said, "You might not like me saying it but you can't deny it." So no arguing.

To think the ConDems want ex forces teaching in our schools! I presume they want teachers to make sure that the oiks know their place and that education's not for the likes of them.

I feel almost sure that Mr Bresslaw didn't post to point out that students aren't studying on days when they're out demonstrating

I assume you're referring to the Poll Tax riots? These proposed changes to the education system will have a much bigger impact on society than the Poll Tax ever would have.

There needs to be more rioting. I can't believe how everyone is sitting back and taking all these cuts without a whimper.
