"ONLY BECAUSE YOU WANT TO SEE A REAL GROUND. YOU MAKE OUT AS IF TRAVELLING A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD MAKE YOU HARDCORE SUPPORTERS - YOU CANNOT EVEN MUSTER A BIG CROWD AT HOME WHEN YOU ARE ON A GREAT RUN PLAYING A TOP 3 CLUB. YOU PEOPLE REALLY MAKE ME LAUGH. ENJOY YOUR 15 MINUTES OF SUCCESS BECAUSE IT WILL BE SHORT LIVED."

It really must be shite being a Darlo supporter. I love the way some of them try and convince themselves that they are destined for great things. You have to laugh....... rolfl

But remember Jonny, they aren't our rivals anymore. At least, not according to Darlo posters early last season.

Maybe because they'd moved onto bigger things, or maybe they were trying to disguise their disgust at the inevitable 3-1 drubbing we gave them in the cup.

That quote is cracking though PJ. The capital letters also lend it some real credibility. And the fact that they had 2,000 home supporters one game not so long ago - that's less than a tenth of the stadium filled!

15 minutes? 14 games, more like. It reads like this (since 18 November, 2006)...

i've been having an argument with a darlo fan (name begins with D and ends in J) on another board about their attendance on 13th January against peterboro. everywhere I've looked gives the attendance as 2321 yet the darlo site says 3005. a big difference obviously. the question is whether pools have had double darlo's attendance once or twice this season. if it was 2321 on 13th jan, then saturday was the 2nd time we've had twice as many, in a ground less than a 1/3 of the size.

probably for the best that you're not on the barrel phil, or this ridiculous thread would have gone on longer than the 12 pages its currently at

The Darlo site had an extra 700 because that it was the attendance was.

The Darlo site is right. It's the official Darlington FC site. A man from the BBC doesn't tott-up the attendances. The FC does.

What happened was that someone gave an incorrect attendance out to the press which all the news agencies got hold off and they didn't update their figures when the correct figure was given out.

Hartlepool's position doesn't detract from the fact that they're attendances are shit. You brought attendances up - I've simply pointed out that Hartlepool's are shite - which is true.

after an e-mail to Darlo

Dont worry sir. That DJ is a thick 'lovely lovely person'.

we're still none the wiser but DJ is being a tosser and insisting he's right

Phil, or anyone else, don't go there. And nick, I really don't know how you can get yourself into arguments with the guy. Even leaving aside the particular problem he seems to have with Hartlepool, he is as incapable of coherent argument as anyone I have "met". Yet he seems convinced that he wins these arguments. Amusing in an odd way.

Mad as a tree stupid

I wouldn't discourage people from going on the site - it's very good.

DJ has long periods where he doesn't post on there - he only came back this time to argue with a certain poster called "Charles", who I believe is a member of this board. So it's his fault.

Dj is a ridiculous person to argue with though, I agree. arguing with him is something you do if you're very bored.

i have actually. because we agreed on something, the logical explaination seemed to be that we were the same person. there's a lot of alter-ego related paranoia on there as you've probably seen.

The 3005 figure was announced later, ONLY by DFC, to save face.

We've doubled their crowd twice so far this season, and will double-PLUS their crowd when we visit in March.

3.005 was announced at the ground as play was still going on, before everybody had fooked off home.

That was the attendance.

Yes, thats because Simpson heard the crowd announced as 3,005 on the tannoy. He always does that at every match.

Actually Q, not on that day. He was asking a few in the press box if anyone had heard the crowd figure as he said it hadn't been announced. I heard the reply 'Just over 3,000'. He rarely hears the crowd figure but i tend to listen out for it.
