For 67 minutes, that game was one of the dullest games I've listened to, not bad necessarily, just dull.

....And then come FOUR goals in EIGHT minutes!!!!

Using someone else's opinion again POK, I thought it was decent game from the start. Goalkeeper forced to make a save after 14 seconds. And some good stuff from us most of the game.

Pools had 16 attempts on target 7 off target won 9 corners had 59% of possession scored 4 goals in NINE minutes. That hardly reads DULL.

POK only thought it was dull because his wanking mittens were in the wash.

Yeah, by all means, it became more interesting when we broke the deadlock.

But how many attacks did Northampton have after we scored?

Not many that I can think of. Because we managed to get a second almost immediately afterwards.

The game wasn't exactly a contest after we scored.

I remember in the past watching a few shite games on Teletext where fuck all happened for ages. In fact one or two games ended goalless meaning I wasted nearly 2 hours I could have been lining up my Panini sticker collection with a spirit level.

Yeah, but I've got a mind as well.

If someones' saying one thing and I dont think its right, then I will think that its not right.

From my own judgement, I agreed with what they said.

Couple of genuine questions.

1 Because the opposition have no attacks does that make it a dull game, surely if one team is totally out-playing another it doesn't constitute a dull game if they playing open attractive attacking football that the opposition can't combat.

2 Could the game have not been exciting because we scored 4 in 9 minutes with good football and because we did that we killed it off. But even taking into account it wasn't a contest after we scored does the previous 65 minutes make it a dull game. I've watched good 0-0 draws.

I would like to ask the other 1358 fans if they found it dull. I would even say most of the Northampton fans would say we played some good stuff and deserved our victory, though they were 2nd best for the majority of the game.

And one final question if the game was dull for 65 minutes, why not just switch it off. I'm sure you don't watch a film for 90 minutes if you have found the first 45 minutes dull.

Sam come on now, we all know too well you have a mind, and i think it's brilliant how expressive you are, keep it up...

BUUTTTTTTTT!!

How do you know what the commentator is saying is right if your not there?

Do you get that?

Away sam, let's stop all this making comments on games your not at.

Seriously where you at the game? The bloke on Radio Tees as I got in the car said that we were unlucky to have got 4 as the game could easily had been a 8, 9 or more to 0 win as we were that good.

In the context of football matches it was a great watch, seeing your side that lost their last game by 5 dominate and create chances at will wasn't even a bit boring.

I would usually agree with you.

If you were present your opinion is based on what your listening to not what your watching.

If a commentator on radio, is not putting any passion in to his commentating then a good game can sound dull and boring.

If he's showing passion with something like... Pools are doing all the attacking they have Northampton on the back foot and it's only a matter of time before the flood gates open you may find it exciting.

If on the other side he says it Monkhouse he passes the ball to Murray he plays it to Sweeney who returns it and Murray passes it back to Monkhouse who , is having a quiet game. Then it can be dull.

Now put that another way, Monkhouse passes to Murray Sweeney makes an exciting run behind their midfield in to space bout 25 yards from goal Murray makes a forward run takes the return and plays a ball behind the right back Monkhouse is on it like a flash and puts in a dangerous cross which is just missed by the on rushing Sweeney going for the return and it's only a goal kick. Until then Monkhouse had had a quiet game but he exploded past the defender there to create a really good chance and Pools are now well on top.

That sounds exciting. Same passage of play described in two totally different ways. So maybe it wasn't the game that was dull but the commentator. Do you agree ?

Alright, its always great to see your team win by a fw goals.

But isn't anone upset by the fact that, as a spectacle, the game seemed to be a bit of a non-starter for some periods.

Last night's attendance was 1359!!!

Hardly the greatest of adverts for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy now is it!

If we're not careful, this competition could go downhill simply because some teams are afraid to really contest games for fear of injuries or fatigue.

I've listened to a lot of games on here on the past and have got to know Mark Simposon's commentry style.

Usually I get annoyed when I hear him, because in other games, he'll commentate an attack and make it seem as if every shot could be a certain goal - and then when the ball is defended well, the enthusiasm immediately drops from his voice.

I personally don't like it when he raises my blood pressure like that and it disappoints me when I hear that the defence has cut it out.

Last night, on one of very few occasions, Idon't remember him really commentating with a lot of gusto in his voice apart from the four goals.

POK it WASN'T a non starter for some periods, take it from one of the 1359 who went.

Sheff Wed v Notts Co...10,551 what's that about 33% of their normal attendance

Southampton v Swindon 8,333 again about 33% of their normal attendance

Now also take in to account that somehow Northampton are in the northern section of this competition that is about the same % of our gates at the moment.

Is it our fault that some teams are afraid to compete? Last night we didn't let Northampton compete their is a difference though.

When has the early rounds of the JPT been well attended.

Totally agree, Mr. FetishBob.

It makes you laugh, in the summer break after the end of last season and the World Cup, we are usually looking forward to the start of the new season.

Four weeks into the start of a new season, people can not seem to get excited....until people start to find out that Wembley is a distinct possibility and and start to take more interest, then some of them dont go.

I'm not doubting that 'Pools were brilliant for a second, Mr.Montpoolier.

What makes me unhappy is that Northampton held us for so long and it seemed as if in my opinion the match was going to penalties. But after we scored, they just caved in and it wasn't a contest.

They didn't hold us we had a lot of chances that were simply not taken clinically enough, we stopped it being a cricket score not them.

A mad nine minutes in the second half cost the Cobblers any chance of progressing to the next round, with Evan Hoorwood, Antony Sweeney, Adrian Monkhouse and Denis Behan all on target.

Have we signed a new player? Lazy fookin journalism again!

His posts aren't wind ups.

I dont think i'm smarter than him at all, he goes to uni and speaks french and sounds a lot more cultured than me, so i dont think i'm smarter than him at all john.

of course its a wind up. If you can't see what he does then you're either blind or stupider than he pretends to be.

The occasional stupid 'not thinking' post you can excuse, but its so regular and clearly designed to push peoples buttons its untrue.

Yeah, but I've got a mind as well.

If someones' saying one thing and I dont think its right, then I will think that its not right.

From my own judgement, I agreed with what they said.

One thing I'm absolutely certain of; POK is for real and probably the most entertaining contributor to this board ever. The only one who comes close is Mutley.
