But I've just had text from a source that is usually reliable.

And if it was our alleged investors it will really get up Pools fans noses.

But Sheff Wed will announce their take over consortium after the game on Saturday.

Still a big pinch of salt to be taken with this in my opinion.

Why would anybody go from wanting to invest in Pools to paying £30m+ just to clear Sheff Wed's debts?

And whose to say that anybody who might have been interested in buying Pools would've been in the best interests of HUFC and us fans anyway? We've all seen where big promises end up down the road at the non-league place.

Fetish, why not name the alledged investor if they are not interested in Pools anymore, its not going to damage the deal.

I don't know the exact name of the investor. Hence the alleged bit. Your right it wouldn't harm and if I knew it I would name it.

The Sunday Sun always seemed to use the phrase "Dubai based multi national company" when describing these alleged investors.

It is the same group yes and two of our ex staff will be part of it.

Time will tell if Hodcroft did the right thing.

are you seriously suggesting that sheffield wednesday would employ chris turner again ?

even the wendies wouldnt be that daft. their fans hate him even more than we do.

Well, one of there recent former chairman sits on there messageboard having slagging matches, so nothing would surprise me.

their fans wont have much choice over who buys the club and who is then employed. if anything they need people to buy the club and invest, so if that means turner and russ then christ its not the end of the world.

paying off £30 million of someone elses debt not exactly fitting with their mission statement is it ?

I'll wait till Saturday and then each and every one on here can shoot me down in flames.

At the same time if it correct, expect this thread to be bounced back to the top.

If it wrong I also expect it to return to the top.

Whether this happens or not with Sheff wed, and remember this emanated from their message boards first. I dont think this Turner link is anything to do with him being manager there, more possibly another director of sport roll.
Consider this. Investor in discussion with Pools. Investment falls through for whatever reason, but during all discussions said investors are impressed with Chris and Russ and when they then take interest in another club they think 'maybe it could be worth employing those 2 guys from Hartlepool'
Also it would certainly make sense for them to delay any announcement untill after Saturday's game

Not as manager no.

That about sums up what I've said to quite a few people now.

Saying the team that you signed was not good enough to stay in a division doesn't exactly motivate the players, fans and owners to back you and your team does it?

if turning down 10 million is what it took to get chris turner out of our football club for good then so be it. i'm certainly not complaining.

we could gnash our teeth till the end of time about what might have been but remember this :

1) hodcroft has already invested more than 10 million in pools, and is still bankrolling the club.

2) he was under no legal or moral obligation to walk away, and indeed having spent in excess of 10 million and ten years of his life on pools why should he ?

3) he has already stated the club isnt for sale and he will continue with slowly developing the club and trying to buy the ground.

4) turner was a shyte manager and has NEVER accepted personal blame for anything. having signed a boatload of duffers last summer he now seems to be leaking information blaming hodcroft for every failing within the club. this is a bloke who after the garforth game said the players were not good enough, despite the fact he signed the majority of them.

5) rather than beating ourselves up about what might have been lets not forget the club has made an excellent start to the season playing the sort of football not seen under turner and west. we have 3 excellent coaches at the club in wadsworth humps and barron, all good footballing brains, and a first team with the potential to do well this season. if the fans turn up and give support who knows hodcroft might open the purse strings to bring a couple of quality loan signings.

get yrselves there saturday and support wadsworth and the lads.

Im not gnashing my teeth Chip, it may well turn out that Hodcroft did right thing in 'turning it down'. We will find out in the years to come. And im glad Turner is no longer manager and im well behind Wadsworth and the players.

The return of the old Chip, using sensible arguments instead of just having a go at people with a different opinion.

I agree with everything you point out there and like you I was well in to the Turner shouldn't be manager camp. His record speaks for itself.

I certainly not "beating myself up" that the money has gone I trust IOR but it would have been nice and anyone who says that it wouldn't is deluding themselves. But it's gone we're were we are and have to move on hopefully in the right direction, and I will be there on Saturday, hopefully those who weren't last night will have read the good reports of how well we played for about an hour and get themselves there as well.

At end of the day now it's IOR carrying on with running the club, but fans helping them by going through the turnstiles and giving them some more cash to play with.
