Well it finished 1-1. Flinders made a mare for there goal. Overall i draw was proberly a fair result. I cant see us scoring many goals next season. Our strikers just dont look up to it. We look most dangerous down the left with Evan and Monky who both put some decent balls in the box. Murray should not be signed. We have better centre mids, even Ritchie is better IMO!

our best hope of goals and creativity is a front pair of Boyd & Brown, providing they keep fit these two are our best bet. why hasnt Turner played them as a pair in any of the pre season games?

I've struggled to understand why those two haven't been played together, it seems an obvious pairing to me.

Maybe Brown is being kept wrapped up in cotton wool.

Behan and McSweeney both said, at a talk in last season , that brown was Pools equivalent to Ledley King and his knee was wrapped in ice after almost every game

Aye but he's a young lad and surely still has power of recovery. I think that with Brown and Boyd playing together and properly serviced, they would make a fearsome strike force.

I hope your right but I do fear for him, to many injuries and I reckon one more bad one will finish him. I hope I wrong we need a anywhere near fully fit Brown, maybe we can have a sort of "two teams" for the season where someone fills in for Brown in away games to give us more chance of picking up draws by filling the midfield while having his attacking power at home, it also gives him time to rest if the stories of ice packs on knee after games is right. I'd rather have a Fit(ish0 brown causing problems at home than having him miss to many games because his knee is flaring up. Just my opinion.

Properly serviced is the key, & it doesn't happen by hoofing balls up in the air to them. Both are strikers, but neither is a target man, & tactics need to accomodate those facts.

York fan here. Despite the fact you probably should have won as our goal was ridiculous and otherwise we had very few chances, I thought given the difference in divisions you were incredibly average. Not necessarily a bad side, just average, which may well translate to a bad side in League 1, sadly I wouldn't know it's been so long! sadx violin
Team in general seemed quite small and lightweight, aside from that beanpole upfront who provided one of the few comedy moments of the match when 'jumping' for the ball he actually seemed to get smaller as opposed to achieving any sort of lift
In theory you seemed to set up to hit the wings, the players in those positions particularly on the left were always ready and looking for it, but in practice they didn't seem to get the ball anywhere near enough.
I dunno, you just struck me as a side of individuals if that makes sense (probably not!), there didn't seem to be much in the way of purpose or cohesion as a team.
175 from Hartlepool, decent following. All the best for this season

Thanks for that Yawkie it's good to have an objective appraisal from outside eyes.

Oh and this season make sure, OK? We really want to play you again but not in the Blue Square!

We're bloody well trying! I knew it wouldn't be easy getting out of this league, but thought we'd be here maybe 2 or 3 years. 7 years down the line... :uhoh:
Your following yesterday will easily be one of the top 10 to come here in terms of numbers. Should be a mental atmosphere when Forest Green bring 11 again.

that's the harsh reality. York is one of a handful of local games for us, so your away end was always guaranteed a minimum 1,000 travelling fans, same went for Scarborough, Darlo - both of which we have last played regularly about 10 years ago
Huddersfield and Carlisle are our local games now!!!
