Turner says we have to many forwards and some may be loaned out.

Good idea. Let's keep Boyd and Brown and loan the rest out.

For once I'm inclined to agree with him. It does of course beggar the question why did he sign them in the first place!

We need some quality in midfield. Or at least a couple of combative players who can distribute the ball well. I'm hoping that Yantorno can do a decent job in the middle seeing as though we don't appear to have many other options.

Surely not? Following the same logic as other decisions about which players to keep and release, won't it be Brown and Boyd who are shipped out? confised

Bjornsson
Mackay
Larkin
Greulich

Between them those guys managed 23 goals for the season.

Our Winger Andy Monkhouse bagged 11 and O'Donovan without the benefit of a full season for us managed 9.

But who would take most of that lot on loan from us? Larkin and Mackay aren't even good enough to send to the loids.

I would strongly suspect that Mackay, Larkin and Greulich are the three he'd want to send out on loan. The latter to get experience and the first two cos they're a bit crap.

I've just put the same thing on another board.

I'm not saying we should loan Boyd out, but that could well be what happens.

Reason I thinking this (and I hope I'm wrong)

Boyd is probably on more wages than any of the others( free's more money up for any other position Turner want's to bring a player in to)

And so far Boyd has hardly had any time on the pitch in the friendlies we've played so far.

So he's not getting match practice.

So Boyd out may well be in Turner's thought's

Don't have go at me I'm just thinking of what may well be a possibility

I hope your wrong but it would explain why Boyd isn't playing. Ive read he is unfit and overweight but surely playing him would benefit and certainly benefit Pools. Mckay wasnt even good enough for Gateshead last season. I dont know whats happening at the club but its not looking good for the up and coming season.

So many people thought bringing Boyd back was a bad idea and it looks like its turned out that way. For me this was a way of Turner trying to appease the fans at the end of that season that nearly ended in relegation at Bristol.

How many managers did it take to get Boyd going the first time around? Even then it was after a loan spell at Boston.

I can't think of many (if any) times its worked when Pools have brought back a former player. Actually the one time it worked was Paul Baker so I can think of once.

If Boyd at this stage of his career cannot get motivated to play for his home town club then he may as well pack in.

What a waste of obvious talent.

Fetish might be right. On the other hand, if Adam B hasn't been getting any match practice, he wouldn't be all that valuable to another team, either. This small matter doesn't of course rule out that it might still be Mr T's plan.

I agree with Poolie_k.....I've not heard of anyone with much enthusiasm at all for next season.

PS People have been saying for ages that Adam is over-weight, even though he was quite thin last season. Just one of those things that people have on their tongue-ends, I think.

He was used sparingly over three seasons but still did a useful job when called upon. 25 league starts and 10 subs. Nine goals, including one of the most important we've ever scored. A lot is made of the impact of Gary Strodder and Chris Freestone (and Chris Turner) at the end of 1998/99. But without Baker's goal at Gay Meadow their efforts might well have been in vain.

Started his run from god knows how far back , but going full pelt when Edwards saved Ingram penalty, to put the rebound in in about the 88th/89th minute. I presume that's the one you mean MJ

I wasnt at that game but i remember listening to the last few minutes on the radio when we got the penna. I have never celebrated any pools goal more than that one. Probably THE most crucial goal in our history. We have a lot to be grateful to paul baker for especially that. I watched the goal the following night on the news over and over again trying to work out how baker showed such pace!! He must have had a rocket up his jacksie.
