Cameron has announced that he will fly the English flag outside Downing Street for the entire duration of the World Cup, according to the BBC.

Ah well, having one Home Nation that not everyone supports regularly in the World Cup is better than not having one there at all.

POK if you think that the Sweaties and even more so the Taffs would want England to do well you are, remarkably, more naive than previously thought. You are a new shade of as yet undiscovered green.

The Scottish and Welsh are England haters first supporters of their own country second.

Well, look I know if you asked them they'd probably say that they would rather have their own teams there to support than England being there.

They'd probably still take an interest in England being there, even though they may not wish them to do that well.

POK,I can absolutely guarantee though is that the whole of Great Britain are not thinking "Ah well at least we have England to support"
In exactly the same way that during the 2000 3rd division play off final us in Hartlepool werent thinking "Ah well at least we have Darlo to support"

Trust me The Scots hate us & dont want us at the world cup finals. The Welsh feel the same as the Scots. At least one half of Northern Ireland Feel the same as the Welsh
I will concede that its possible that one half of Northern Ireland may not despise us,but I suspect Mr I or another of our ex army guys would know more than I do about opinion over there.

That comment has to be the most stupid one you have made on here. Do you know any Scotish or Welsh people, two of my best mates at Uni were Welsh and one had a T-shirt that explains it all "I love Wales" on the front and "Anyone that beats England" on the back.

One of them played Rubgy, and now plays professional, he said he loved playing for an English University because it ment he could hurt English people every match.

I bet Argentina shirt sales go up 100% in Scotland during this world cup.

I think it's fair to say that Scottish and Welsh folk have a chip on their shoulder whenever it comes to all things English.

It's probably cos they've all got small cocks. And are ginger. Probably.

Once, in my other half's student days, he and his mate got sick of the general lack of Scottish support for the England team, and decided to go in a pub which was showing the Peru v Scotland match, and cheer on the Peruvians.

To their concern they were immediately surrounded by hordes of fearsome, tartan-clad Highlanders all jabbering in incomprehensible dialects and making very threatening gestures.

Bit naive and reckless in those days, my other half.........

Odd innit

You constantly bemoan the fact England is no longer English, but won't support your own national team

It reminds me of my old flat mate

His mam & dad both Irish, he HATED the English football team, but supported the English cricket team because Ireland didn't have one

Sung the Irish national anthem, in English

Loved Jack Charlton and turned a blind eye to the fact the vast majority of the ROI team was full of plastic paddies

Maybe Cameron will advocate a coalition between the other members of the union to make a British side.
With his Christian name he shows a leek leaning and his surname suggests he has sweaty ancestry.

Can understand supporting another nationality if you have some sort of affinity to them, ie your dads Irish or your grandad is welsh or you have lived in said country.

I have none of these things so dont "support" another country other than England. PoK cant seem to realise that the Scots and Welsh would rather anyone else win apart from us. Didnt Craig Levine get shot down by a load of Jocks for saying he wanted England to do well.

Yeah POK they really like us stpid

They probably wouldn't want to us to win because they'd know that within the UK we'd have the bragging rights if we won and they would be sick to death of what some of us would say afterwards.

Do some of these Scots and Welsh people really hate us or is it just a case that they would be sick as pigs if we won the World Cup?

Funnily enough, there was a report on The One Show tonight about whether Scots, the Welsh and people from Northern Ireland would be follwing England's progress.

Their report seemed to suggest that while the old rivalries remain strong for obvious reasons, people generally are rather laid back about the World Cup.

They may be a bit laid back coz they're not in it. However, there is nothing laid back about their desire for us to be beaten in every match and be back home long before Gary Linekar and Co.

Funnily enough, there was a report on The One Show tonight about whether Scots, the Welsh and people from Northern Ireland would be follwing England's progress.

Their report seemed to suggest that while the old rivalries remain strong for obvious reasons, people generally are rather laid back about the World Cup.

Funnily enough, this type of journalism and show is crap and they go looking for people to support what they are saying, I bet about 10 people were on that show saying that they want england to do well, they would have been cherry picked for a pole of about 60-70.

Talk sport did the same thing the other day with a phone in regarding craig levine's comments, about 8 out of ten callers from Scotland wanted England to get stuffed.

POK, just so you are aware Muttley has asked me to inform you that he is in a typical Scottish pub and every world cup flag is there apart from one. Can you guess which one is missing?

yes they're dead friendly those sweaties

http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Anyone ... 145?ref=ts

maybe its because they've achieved the root sum of fook all when it comes to football (apart from being the only unbeaten team in the1974 World Cup)..

I can go back to my childhood where in 1974 and 1978 the whole of the UK got behind Scotland's unlikely bid to make it out of the group stages (another glorious fail for the men in blue.. clappp clappp rolfl rolfl )

Pity they're not that magnanimous themselves..

Since working with a few I've grown to revel in every defeat their country suffers..

They'll be crying in their beer at every England victory and for that reason alone

COME ON ENGLAND!!
