There has been absolute hell on over here regarding this, especially from the expat community.

Sheikh Zayed Road is the main route through Abu Dhabi and Dubai and is 6 lanes wide either way. It is always busy, Ive not known traffic like it in the UK.

In the main, the feeling is that those responsible will get away with it, as they are Emirati locals. They initially were not even going to be arrested!!! Enraging all the expats, as i'm sure you have seen in the papers, we get arrested and jailed for anything from giving a girl a peck on the cheek to chewing gum during Ramadam.
