Went out to the Dun Cow in Sedgefield tonight for a meal with PC. We'd just got sat down with our drinks, and they started playing Nina Simone's 'My Baby Just Cares For Me' in the background. 'Nice' I thought, then it was followed by 'Feeling Good', and the tracks kept coming for the next hour. Made my night, along with the excellent food, and my lovely wifes company. :grin:

As for supergroups, well you know, they tried all that in 69/70 with Blind Faith, Humble Pie, Airforce, etc., but unfortunately the whole was never as good as the sum of the parts. In the end I think people expected too much of them.

I seem to have lost track of time since seasons end

. Always nice to get a warm welcome.

In addition to the Kronos Quartet I have been enjoying Oumou Sangare - Seya (I like a bit of world music) and Around Robert Wyatt - Orchestre National De Jazz. If you like Wyatt this is excellent - songs written by or associated with the great man and sung by him or people he chose (I think). Anyway it's marvellous. A Woman A Man Walked By (PJ Harvey/John Parish) is also truly wonderful. Other than The Hold Steady, the new Sonic Youth and Bat For Lashes (a father's day present about which I remain unsure) it's mainly old stuff round our house. The Crying Light - Antony is my album of the year so far - I have tickets to see him at The Opera House in Manchester next month. I can hardly wait - 'moving' doesn't even start to describe his music for me. Not everbody's cup of tea mindst.
